🗣️Liverpool and Real Madrid great Steven McManaman says he feels sorry for Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres: “I do feel sorry for #Arsenal forwards sometimes because they’re not an entertaining team, they’re not like a Barcelona. They defend very deep, they defend as a whole and it’s a long way to get to the other end of the pitch to score goals. “They’re never going to be this entertaining, lovely, free-flowing side scoring goal after goal after goal, and then Gyökeres and Havertz sometimes get the blame because of that. It’s normally the midfielders and the defenders that we talk about. “But as I said, Gyökeres had a great first half against Slavia Prague, he did his best in the second half and he deserves what he got because he got an assist and he got a goal.”

🚨 Arsene Wenger on why the talk about Cesc Fabregas next job misses what he’s doing at Como: “Someone showed me the score at 8–1 and asked, ‘How long before a big club comes for Cesc?’ “I said, ‘How long have you been watching?’ “He said, ‘I’ve only just seen the score.’ “I said, ‘Then you’ve got eight reasons to put the game on.’ “When Cesc was young at Arsenal, he was very good at seeing what could happen after the pass he was about to play. The difficult part, at that age, is persuading a man who’s played five hundred games that you can see something he hasn’t seen yet. “I remember asking him about a pass he’d played into a teammate with a man right behind him. I said, ‘What did you expect him to do with that?’ “He told me, ‘Give it back. His man had followed him, so I could run into the space.’ “I said, ‘Did he know you were going to run there?’ “He said, ‘He will next time.’ “I liked that answer. The first time, your teammate can think you’ve given him a bad ball. The second time, he can give it back to you without even looking. There’s a lot of work between those two passes. “That’s what I wanted to see when Como were three up at half-time. Lens made changes. The crowd had fifteen minutes to tell themselves the next goal could make it a game again. Then the second half starts, Nico Paz gets the ball and Lucas Da Cunha goes straight back to making the run he believes Nico will see. Within two minutes, it’s four. “People will remember the eight. I’ll remember how quickly they got the fourth. I’ve been in enough dressing rooms to know how tempting it is, at 3–0, to congratulate everybody on a very good half and spend the next one trying to preserve it. Como came out and picked up the conversation they’d been having with the ball. “The man who showed me the score came back to it. He said, ‘But surely Cesc is ready for a bigger job now?’ “I said, ‘Of course he is. Look how much bigger the job at Como has become since he took it.’ “Think of a supporter who has spent years going to the same ground. For a long time, if he wanted to explain what his club meant to him, he had to tell you about going with his father, or where they used to stand, or the player he loved whom you’d probably never heard of. He knew exactly why it mattered. He couldn’t always expect you to. “Now he can ring the same people who used to ask him, ‘How did Como get on?’ out of politeness. Before he can say a word, they’re asking him, ‘What on earth have you got going on down there?’ “I imagine he’s been waiting quite a long time to have that conversation. I’d let him finish it before asking where his manager should go next.”

Wayne Rooney: "They voted Arsenal as the most hated club. They even went as far as manufacturing bottles with the Arsenal logo. That's how far they've taken the mockery of Arsenal and its fans. You can see the level of hatred towards Arsenal because of how good they've been. These people want to see the Arsenal they used to know, the Arsenal that used to be a topic of the day. Today, they have nothing to discuss because Arsenal have proved them wrong beyond doubt. No more insults towards Arsenal; today, it's just praise and worship. They've changed their minds. They've seen something good about Arsenal. They are champions, so how can you insult champions? I think they need to understand that it's their insults and hatred that have brought Arsenal this far. Those insults became motivation for Arsenal. Whenever they spoke negatively about the club, Mikel Arteta turned those words into something positive. Their words played a key role in Arsenal's journey. But there's something I've learned about Arsenal players and their fans: despite all the noise, you couldn't find Arsenal players in the media debating those insults, and their fans never exchanged words with their rivals."

Arsenal have played 10 of their 15 games this season away from home. They've won eight of them 👏

🎥 Look at how happy the #Arsenal players were for Viktor Gyökeres after he scored an EXCELLENT goal for us tonight against Slavia Prague 🇸🇪 ❤️

Three goals and one assist for Noni Madueke so far this season for Arsenal. However beyond the goal contributions, he’s looking really really good. Mikel Arteta said a few weeks ago “with a run of games, Noni will explode.” The biggest compliment I can give Madueke is at this moment in time, Arsenal are not missing Bukayo Saka at all.

🚨Eberechi Eze on his conversation with Viktor Gyökeres after Arsenal’s victory against Slavia Prague: 🗣️ Eberechi Eze: After the final whistle, I walked over to Viktor because I wanted to tell him something. I said, “You know what I like about playing with you? You don’t need ten chances. Give you one good ball and you make defenders pay.” He laughed and said, “Then stop giving me good balls and give me great ones.” [laughs] I looked at him and said, “Alright, so you’re blaming me now?” He said, “No, I’m challenging you. There’s a difference.” That caught me because he was serious. He told me, “Eze, when you get the ball between the lines, I don’t want you looking for the safe pass. I want you looking for me.” I told him, “But sometimes there are three defenders around you.” He said, “I don’t care. If I start running, trust me. Don’t decide for me that the pass is impossible.” Honestly, that stayed in my head. Then I told him, “You know the fans are going to expect goals from you every single game now.” He smiled and said, “Good. That’s what I came here for.” I asked him, “No pressure?” He looked at me and said, “Pressure is when people stop expecting anything from you.” That line hit me. I told him, “You know Arsenal fans are going to go crazy if we start doing this every week.” He said, “Let them go crazy. We haven’t done anything yet.” I laughed and said, “We just won.” He replied, “One win doesn’t make you champions. It only gives you another reason to believe.” Then he pointed at me and said, “And you… stop thinking you’re just here to create chances.” I asked him what he meant. He said, “You’re a match-winner too. Don’t spend your whole career making other people look good.” I didn’t even have an answer for that. Because that’s exactly the mentality you want around you. We shook hands and he said, “Next game, find me earlier.” I said, “Next game, make the run earlier.” He smiled and walked away. That’s when I realized something — if Viktor and I start understanding each other properly, Arsenal can become a very serious problem for defenders.

We stopped being the team they used to bully, and now they’re all complaining. 😭
