The man on GB News last night advocating for “pro Russian voices” to be thrown in jail, including people saying “don’t go to war for Burnham” has been revealed as Paul Richards.
Richards is Treasurer of the Fabian Society and has previously served as a Labour special adviser.
Just think about that.
A senior figure within Labour was on national television talking about locking ordinary British people up for voicing opposition to war.
People should be extremely concerned when influential political figures start talking so casually about imprisoning people for opposing the government and opposing a war.
This is a threat to our freedom of speech and democracy.
I’m not sure why GB News is suddenly pushing so much talk about Britain going to war, conscription and people being expected to die.
I’m not pro-Russia. I’m not pro-Ukraine. But I certainly won’t be going to war for Andy Burnham or Labour.
If politicians ever tried forcing British men into a war in Ukraine, they might need to start emptying the prisons just to find enough cells for everyone who refused.
British men should not be expected to die in the Donbas for failed career politicians in Westminster.
And this is now the SECOND time in a day I’ve heard Jacob Rees-Mogg involved in this kind of rhetoric.
Earlier he said there could be circumstances where people “have to die to save their country.”
He should be ashamed of himself.
Stop casually talking about sending other people’s sons to war, unless you are willing to send your own.
