May your ancestors visit you in your dreams tonight providing insight to your current struggles.
I’m grateful for tea and other things that I can’t remember right now because I need more tea. Let me get that teapot on and I’ll come back with my gratitude list for today.
I come boldly to umsamo because I’ve done and continue to do the work required of me. I can count on my ancestors because they can count on me for the things that are a priority to them at least.

Let me explain a beautiful custom from my family when we do umbulelo (thanksgiving).
On the day of the function, before anything else, we have iBhunga. iBhunga is a briefing session attended by family members ONLY. No community, just family.
In iBhunga, you as the person doing the thanksgiving must explain the REASONS for doing it. You must account. You must give a full report of what you are thanking for.
In my case, I had to stand before my family and explain my PhD - its objectives, its findings 😂😂. Imagine presenting your PhD twice! Then I had to explain about the private clinic, its purpose and the journey.
Only after you have satisfied the family in iBhunga, do you then go to the house and invite the community. It is then the family elders who explain to the community what the thanksgiving is about. You don't explain to the community, your elders do.
Family first. Community after. That's how we do umbulelo.

Beyond politics, we need to find new ways of social engineering. Currently, that project is on autopilot. And there’s no political party that can close that gap. Socrates called it The Noble Lie. We desperately need one.
You may call yourself peaceful when what you have really mastered is avoiding confrontation. It’s not the same thing.
I’m not particularly fond of the term “auntie/aunty”
In our culture our mother’s sisters are our mothers and our father’s sisters are our fathers. We have terms for these; Mam’khulu, Mam’ncane, Babekati, Dabawo.
The casual adoption of the term “auntie” risks diminishing these important cultural distinctions and gradually eroding the richness of our languages and traditions.
Sometimes it takes a small thing like shouting “fuck” to clear your throat chakra.
Happy Sunday, beloved.
Also, if in your house one door closes and another opens please do consider that your house may be haunted.

"Nokuba ngisaphila kusho ukuthi u nkulunkulu usase nami"
At the age of 25 I got medically boarded. I was forced out of my engineering career, a career that I loved so much.
I was to stay at home & get paid +R25k monthly for life with annual adjustments and increases.
I accepted my fate, made peace with my new reality.
As far as the doctors were concerned i had Narcolepsy.
I was falling asleep in meetings, falling asleep whilst driving, falling asleep at my desk.
To cut a long story short, i am back kwa engineering, kwa kind regards, kwa entrepreneurship.
The "Narcolepsy" got healed by saying "Ngiyalivuma ubizo" 🤣🤣🤣😭.
The R4000 monthly chronic medication wasn't making a dent. But that phrase completely healed the "Narcolepsy"😅.
In short nje, we are not in control.
Uthando lunye ♥️
