„The institutional inertia inherent in benchmarking and momentum investing all rests on one assumption — a continued hyper-liquidity in financial asset markets.
High levels of liquidity in financial markets, the foundation on which the structure of the current financial system is built, seems as permanent as air to the modern investor, but its existence is the exception rather than the rule.“

I believe we're entering a resource bull market for the record books.
Short-term silver price volatility? I see opportunity.
This cycle is different. Unlike the demand-driven bull market of the 2000s, today's story is about supply shortages. And with miners in stronger financial positions, the stage is set for something much bigger.
Understanding the macro builds conviction. Conviction builds patience. And patience is where the real money is made.
Great discussion with Eric Strand and Keith Neumeyer at Nordic Funds & Mines 2026.

Colombia’s mining rules reset could unlock $4.7 billion in mine construction and $350 million in annual exploration.
Colombia’s government has repealed major mining restrictions:
• Mining districts: 15 repealed across 11 departments on Oct 22, covering 5.3M hectares
• Agricultural protections: Food Production Protection Areas revoked across four regions in October
Removing the designations does not automatically authorize mining. Companies must still meet environmental and permitting requirements.
Copper projects in Colombia’s development pipeline include:
• AngloGold Ashanti (Quebradona)
• Cordoba Minerals (Alacrán)
• Libero Copper (Mocoa)
• Royal Road Minerals (Guintar-Aleman-Margaritas)

The Netherlands officially nominated Klaas Knot (former Dutch central bank chief) to replace Christine Lagarde as head of the European Central Bank (#ECB). EU countries have until Friday to pitch candidates. In order to win, a nominee requires votes from 16 of 21 eurozone states.

Do US copper tariffs survive a Democratic Congress?
Saxo’s Ole Hansen says the likelihood of additional tariffs on refined copper “may have diminished.”
Hansen says that could eventually encourage metal held in US warehouses to flow back to international markets, though it would redistribute existing inventories and not improve mine supply.
BMO notes the Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum and copper products, including a possible extension to refined copper from January, sit under presidential authority.
COMEX copper’s premium over LME was $61 a metric ton on Nov 3, down from a high of $723 on Aug 5.

Natural gas: Two markets, two very different outlooks.
European gas prices have fallen 17% from last week's peak on Middle East peace hopes, but low storage levels, disrupted LNG supplies and winter demand remain major concerns. Meanwhile, US hedge funds have built their largest bearish natural gas positions since 2020, betting that a strong El Niño will limit heating demand.
With Europe competing against Asia for LNG supplies, weather forecasts and Middle East diplomacy will be key drivers in the months ahead. social.saxo/deensbc via @saxobank

Chinese households are buying the dip. As gold softened toward $4,000/oz and onshore equities lost ground, physical demand in China accelerated. Volumes in the Au99.99 contract on the Shanghai Gold Exchange (fully paid, mandatory delivery, so physical rather than leveraged demand) rose to 43 million lots last week, roughly 430 tons. That is the highest level since April.
Accumulation plans are the main channel. These low-barrier bank products let retail investors buy bullion in small increments. Purchases through them in the first nine months of 2026 already exceed the full-year 2025 total, according to unnamed bank sources. For context, PBoC gross figures show banks sold 2,187 tons to consumers in 2025, more than three times the prior year. That figure excludes buybacks.
Gold is the last safe haven standing in China. Property is slumping, government bond yields are at record lows, and Chinese stocks have lost $2.4 trillion in value since their May peak. Bloomberg credits this domestic bid with keeping gold largely above $4,000, despite the US-Iran war fuelling inflation fears and rate-hike bets that would normally weigh on a non-yielding asset.

#stablecoins #geld

US midterm shock reshapes the commodity outlook. Gold and silver rally on a weaker dollar and lower yields, oil slides on hopes of an Iran deal, while copper reassesses tariff risks.
