🇲🇾 Every morning at 6:30, Shafira Azlan and her husband begin feeding stray cats in Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur. They have kept this routine going for five years. It began with the rescue cats they cared for at home. Wanting to share that same kindness, they started feeding cats living beside a road. Today, roughly 30 cats depend on their visits, three times a day. Shafira also takes sick or injured cats for treatment, arranges neutering and helps find adoptive families. Food alone costs RM600–800 a month, and vet bills can run much higher. Among her rescues were two mother cats who spent eight months in care. So closely bonded that they could not be separated, they eventually found a home together. The work can be exhausting, but Shafira keeps thinking about the cats waiting for her. As long as they have full stomachs, she says, she feels relieved. Five years on, this couple still shows up—for every meal and every cat in need.
