SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

REGIMENT has landed in Las Vegas! 🫡
We are setting up our booth at MCON and can't wait to connect with more Military Veterans this weekend.
More than 75 veterans, advocates, and elected officials gathered yesterday at @WWP's Warrior Policy Roundtable at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
The discussion created a direct dialogue between veterans and policymakers on key issues affecting veterans and their families, including the Major Richard Star Act and improving access to care in rural communities.
"I've never seen this many veterans in one room in my district," said @RepBaumgartner.
Thank you to Warrior Advocate Leader Lani Kelp for organizing and moderating this impactful discussion.
Bringing veterans and stakeholders together for candid conversations helps turn veterans’ experiences into informed policy solutions.
Recently, in Portland, Maine, @WWP hosted a warrior policy roundtable where veterans and stakeholders had candid conversations about the issues affecting them, and what resources are available.
We appreciate the offices of @SenAngusKing and @SenatorCollins for participating in this important conversation. We also thank Warrior Advocate Leader Nicole Lyon for being part of the conversation.

Some beautiful views on the North Shore of #Pittsburgh this morning as the city reflected in the mostly calm Allegheny River. The Highmark Building was lit up in honor of metastatic breast cancer awareness (as was the Koppers Building), and it made for incredible scenes.
Women veterans must receive the support and care they have earned.
@WWP thanks @JohnBoozman for supporting The Veterans' Outcomes, Inclusion, Care and Experience (VOICE) for Women Veterans Act.
Your leadership helps provide women veterans with the support and care they have earned.
Women veterans have made tremendous sacrifices for our country and I continue working to improve their access to the benefits and services they’ve earned.
The bipartisan VOICE for Women Veterans Act will strengthen VA oversight and help identify gaps we can address to ensure no matter where they live, they get quality care that meets their needs. boozman.senate.gov/press-rel…

Educating congressional district offices about @WWP programs and services helps strengthen support for veterans and their families.
Recently, we hosted a lunch-and-learn in Boston with staff from the offices of @RepRichardNeal, @RepLoriTrahan, @RepAuchincloss, @RepMoulton, @WhipClark, @USRepKeating, and @SenWarren.
Thanks to all who attended.

More than 21,000 Military Veterans & Service Members have joined @RegimentGG in 2026, and the year isn’t even over yet! 🤯
We didn’t start this organization in a corporate boardroom. We launched REGIMENT from a Marine Corps barracks room by using Discord. No suits. No bureaucracy. Just like minded people who give a damn about Veterans and wanted to make a difference.
People laughed when we started… Literally laughed in my face. Now REGIMENT is changing and saving lives every single day, and that's because of every member and supporter who believed in it. ❤️

Important documents can be difficult or impossible to replace after a disaster, so take steps now to keep them protected. Store identification, insurance papers, financial records and other essential documents in a secure, waterproof container, and save digital copies in a safe location.
Having these records readily available can make the recovery and assistance process easier following an emergency.

What an amazing day on Capitol Hill!
Thank you to every woman warrior who courageously shared her story, and to the congressional offices that took the time to listen, engage, and discuss solutions. These conversations help shape policy and drive meaningful change for women veterans.
When women veterans speak up, their voices make a powerful impact.
Women veterans’ voices are a powerful force for change.
And creating that impact is what the @WWP Women Warriors Summit is all about. #WWPAdvocacy
The Women Warrior Summit 2026 is over, and yet our advocacy work is not done!
Thanks @WWP_DC for the resources, confidence training, and opportunity to advocate directly with my representatives on the Hill for my Veteran Sisters and those yet still serving.
