🎉🔥 The party’s over, but your fire safety check isn’t!
College students, before you call it a night, take a quick look around your space. Make sure there are no unattended candles, cigarettes, or other items that could start a fire.
🍺 Keep alcohol far away from open flames and never mix drinking with fire-related activities.
🕯️ Blow out candles before leaving the room.
🚬 Make sure cigarettes are completely extinguished and disposed of properly.
🔥 Never leave anything burning or smoldering unattended.
A few seconds of checking your space could prevent a fire before it starts. Party smart. Stay safe. 🎓❤️

Halloween is this weekend! Let's remember to bring our safety skills as we set up for the holiday weekend.
Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or floor. Beds, couches, and pillows can trap heat and block airtlow, which can cause a battery to overheat.

🌊 COASTAL FLOODING ALERT
King Tides may cause moderate to major coastal flooding in Charleston this weekend through midweek, especially during morning high tides Monday–Wednesday.
Low-lying roads and intersections may become impassable. Please plan ahead and avoid flooded roads should you encounter them. IF roads or intersections are blocked with a barricade, DO NOT drive around it and find an alternate route.
All road closures will be posted to the City of Charleston TideEye website:

Construction zones can be dangerous for everyone, including our first responders. 🚧 Always follow posted safety signs, stay alert around construction equipment and keep a safe distance from active work zones. A little extra caution can help keep our community safe!
Unplug your device when it is fully charged. Leaving it plugged in longer than needed can increase heat and stress on the battery.

Fire Companies Relocated as
Historic Renovation Plan Continues
Charleston, SC (October 15, 2026): The Charleston Fire Department has temporarily closed Stations 2 & 3, located at the corner of Meeting Street and Wentworth Street, to prepare for the next phase of renovation to this nearly 140-year-old historic building. The administrative side of the station, facing Wentworth Street, will remain in use during this phase of the project and will relocate at a future date.
“Relocating the two engines from the fire station was an important next step for the renovation project to move forward,” said Fire Chief Dan Curia. “City Capital Projects continues to finalize project plans, conduct the necessary assessments, and will be responsible for the overall project management of the renovation.”
Emergency response services will continue without disruption. Personnel and operations have been coordinated to accommodate the transition while maintaining the department’s ability to serve the community.
The temporary facility is located at 296 Meeting Street and includes a Sprung Structures building that will serve as the apparatus space for both engines. The adjacent house was adjusted for the temporary living quarters.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

🍺🔥 Alcohol + Fire = A Dangerous Combination.
Alcohol and fire do NOT mix. Whether you’re grilling, cooking, using a fire pit, or lighting candles, drinking can slow your reaction time and impair your judgment, turning a small mistake into a serious emergency.
🔥 If you’re drinking, designate someone else to handle the fire.
🚫 Never leave a grill, fire pit, or open flame unattended.
👀 Keep a clear head when you’re in charge of the flames.
Have fun. Be responsible. And keep alcohol and fire separated.
