They propped the phone up so you’d watch them steal it. These two picked up the detergent, announce it “isn’t full,” grab a second bottle, and poured it in with the camera already framed. They did it celebrate their “win.” The gap in these bottles is headspace. Detergent is sold by the fluid ounces on the label, not by how close the liquid sits to the cap. That air is there so the bottle doesn’t burst when the liquid expands in a hot truck, so it doesn’t leak in transit, and so you can pour it without wearing it. You pay for the number on the front label. You aren’t buying the air. The second bottle is the part they hope you miss. They rack the empty one and walk out with product they didn’t pay for. The next person gets the short jug. “Why would I pay for one that’s already half empty” is the BS justification for theft. Because that’s how it’s sold. The phone doesn’t make it a tip.
