🇨🇦 teacher says (in a school with large number of Jewish students): “If you have a problem with it (the Palestine flag on her computer), we can have a conversation one on one.”
I have a big problem with it… let’s talk!
Students should not be subjected to hostile learning environments @WCI_YRDSB.
Hey @WCI_YRDSB, is it common practice for your teachers to provoke and create a hostile environment for their students?
Teachers are there to EDUCATE. Using classroom authority to push an anti-Israel political agenda or make Jewish students feel targeted is unacceptable.
Jewish and pro-Israel students deserve respect and a classroom free from intimidation. What are you doing to ensure that?
Bravo to these kids for standing up to this teacher! 👏

Marshall Law - Canada is proud to represent 12 Jewish teachers in a human rights proceeding against various teachers unions and school boards in Ontario. Our clients have experienced unacceptable forms of discrimination and we look forward to fighting for accountability and justice. The examples of what these teachers face in their workplace is horrifying:
"One teacher accuses the Toronto District School Board of failing to investigate after a swastika was drawn on a desk in her classroom. A Simcoe County District School Board teacher, meanwhile, alleges he watched a student go unpunished after drawing a swastika on a chart in the classroom, and that another student was singing a Hitler-related anthem at recess"

I am not a Jew so I cannot pretend to know how it feels to be Jewish in Canada. I can however, publicly support Canadian Jews. Loudly.
The news this morning…restaurants burned, bagel shops shot up, blatant attacks on Jews. Speak out against this blatant antisemitism. It DOES have a place in Canada. In fact, it is thriving here. @thealliescanada

Stop saying: "Antisemitic hate has no place in our community."
Start saying: "Antisemitic hate has tragically gained a large, persistent, and potential deadly place in our community - and we all need to do some deep introspection on how and why it happened."

I completely respect and appreciate Esther’s family wanting to protect her medical privacy. That is every parent’s right, and I say this with genuine empathy for what they are going through right now.
But learning tonight that Esther is autistic and considered vulnerable fundamentally changes the level of concern surrounding this disappearance.
A 14-year-old girl missing for nearly a week, reportedly without shoes, in light clothing, with no phone and no money, should have had the entire city on heightened alert from the very beginning.
Police rely heavily on the public as extra eyes and ears. Context matters in missing person investigations. Unfortunately, when people hear “missing teenager,” some may wrongly assume the child simply ran away and will eventually return home. But knowing Esther is on the autism spectrum underscores just how vulnerable she may be and why this situation is so urgent.
As a former investigator, I understand and respect the family’s wishes regarding privacy. But personally, I would have strongly encouraged that this information be released earlier because Esther’s safety has to be the overriding priority right now.
My hope is that with this additional information now public, more people across Toronto will keep Esther at the forefront of their minds, stay alert, and help bring this young girl home safely.

Attendance was not optional.
When the mayor doesn't show up to a press conference in front of a synagogue that was riddled with bullets, it sends a very strong message to both the perpetrators and the Jewish community.

Waking up to the news of yet another night of gunshots fired into synagogues, this time over the Sabbath.
Call this what it is: an attempt to terrorize the Jewish community.
Synagogues are places where families gather, where seniors pray, where children learn. Targeting them with gunfire is meant to spread fear, intimidation - and yes, terror.
It is disgusting and sadly becoming commonplace in Canada.
Those responsible must be found, prosecuted, and made an example of.
And in the meantime, there must be increased police patrols and protection around synagogues and Jewish institutions immediately. Everywhere.
Jewish Canadians should never have to fear walking into their place of worship.
Time for governments to stop being “shocked” and “appalled” while send “thoughts” and “prayers”.

Last night, Temple Emanu-El in North York was struck by gunfire – the latest in a disturbing pattern of attacks targeting Jewish institutions.
Multiple bullets damaged the synagogue’s windows. While no one was inside, this was clearly a deliberate act of intimidation against the Jewish community.
@TorontoPolice Hate Crime Unit is investigating, and we anticipate that those responsible will be identified, arrested and prosecuted.

That’s right everyone, targeting kids at summer camp.
A place they go to have fun, make lifelong friends and memories will now be target with hate.
They’re coming for summer camps now.
A campaign is singling out 17 Jewish camps across Canada. Places where kids sing songs, make friends, and learn who they are.
Targeting Jewish children building Jewish identity has nothing to do with geopolitics. This hate movement has always been about dismantling Jewish life anywhere it exists.
And in the process, they keep showing exactly why a Jewish state is an absolute necessity.
