The countdown is on! We’re just minutes away from kicking off The Unbreakable Link.
The first of its kind to be held in Canada, The Unbreakable Link is a seven day, 168 consecutive hour walk/run in support of Cops for Cancer, a partnership between first responders and the Canadian Cancer Society that supports children with cancer and their families.
It is created and spearheaded by Mike Duhacek, an HRPS civilian member and Founder of Help Me Bury Cancer. Our service is proud to support Mike, and the many families touched by childhood cancer in our community and beyond.

Being part of a community means getting people through their darkest days.
During his brave battle against leukaemia, Zach Gibson served as our Chief for the Day in 2019.
Today, our members were honoured to carry on his legacy by facing off against the Milton Winterhawks as part of the Zach Strong: Hockey vs Cancer memorial tournament, raising funds to support paediatric cancer research and families impacted by the disease.
Zach’s mother Julie said: “Zach faced so much with a quiet strength that continues to inspire those who knew and loved him. We so deeply miss his big bear hugs and his beautiful smile.”
“Sergeant Ron Ferlin was the liaison at that time and he couldn't have been more empathetic and supportive to our family by making Zach feel special and by telling us that we were, from then on, a part of the HRPS family.”
“The support of HRPS, the Milton Winterhawks, and our community has helped carry us through the most difficult time in our lives, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has stood by us over the years. Their continued support brings comfort and helps us find purpose in our loss, knowing that Zach’s life and legacy continue to make a difference.”

Meet Amit Sood - a member of our IT unit and Auxiliary Officer for the Halton Regional Police Service.
"Being an Auxiliary Officer means more than just putting on a uniform or volunteering my time. It means giving back to the community I serve because I want to, not because I have to. It’s a rewarding opportunity to provide and support the residents of the Halton region – a place I’m proud to live in, raise a family, and call home."

Here's #SomethingToKnow - police work doesn't stop when the cruiser is parked.
Our officers spend less time inside a station and more time out in the community because cruisers are our constable's office on wheels.
Using advanced technologies right from the inside of their cruiser, including integrated reporting writing software, GPS mapping networks, digital notebooks, in-car camera video, and e-ticketing systems, Halton Regional Police Service officers spend less time inside a station and more time out in the community, remaining visible and accessible.
