Something happened some time ago that each time I remember, it shakes me. Interestingly, the scene that took place that period has hardly ever left my thoughts.
Let me talk about the incident that occured in 2015 that changed my life forever. Then, I was a student in a prestigious day school which was quite walkable from my house. I was 14 in Ss2, while my younger sis was 12 and in Js3.
Normally, we would go home together. Although, on some days, she would leave me in school and go home while I would do same. My parents had complained about that, but, since we quarrelled a lot, we never seemed to agree or care. Sisters fight.
One day, our dad scolded us and took away our tablets, saying he would only return it on weekends, if we come home together throughout each week. We miss a day, we loose out completely. Of course, we didn't want our tabs taken away from us, so we complied.
On this particular day, I finished quite earlier than usual and my sister was surprised to see me. She asked if I skipped assignment as we were always bombarded with one every school day. I told her that we had just one and I had taken notes down. I noticed she was skeptical about going home at that time and I was becoming impatient.
I tried to find out why she wasn't ready to go, forcing me to take more than usual time. She replied that she was waiting for one of her friends, they had promised to go home together that day. I checked my wristwatch and told her that she had only five minutes left and after that, I'd leave.
After more than ten minutes, I confronted her and asked her to leave her friend so we could go home, that her friend probably wasn't ready to go. My sister, Anna refused, saying she wouldn't just break her promise like that.
I reminded her what going home alone would look like as it was Friday and the last day to complete that week's streak. She bluntly refused and said I could go ahead without her, since I was tired of her.
After a little back and forth with her, I left her there and headed home. No one was home when I got there. I took off my clothes and washed them quickly. I had my bath, ate and was about to turn on the TV when the light went off. While I waited, I slept off.
I got woken up by a soft bang on the door. It was my parents. I had locked the door from within, so they couldn't gain access and that was where I had to come in. As I got up to go unlock the door, I saw on the wall clock that it was past 5pm. As my parents sauntered in, my mom asked about Anna and I mentioned that she should be in her room.
My mom returned from Anna's room and said she wasn't there. I asked her to check the bathroom, of which I joined her and Anna wasn't there either. My mom asked if we came home together and I replied negatively. That was when it hit me. If the door was locked from within, that means Anna never came home and that got me scared.
My mom became tensed and went into the house to call my dad who returned with her. My dad was surprised to hear that we didn't return home together. I had to explain what has transpired between us earlier, but they weren't hearing any of it. My parents left the house immediately and asked me to stay back.
I waited for them till about 8pm before they returned, but Anna wasn't in sight either. My heartbeat increased massively. I asked my mom what happened, but she didn't respond to me. My dad said they'd check everywhere they could, but no sign of her. He asked me to go sleep that we would continue the next day.
Well, Anna never returned home for weeks and her body was found in a stream few blocks away from the school. No one knew who her mysterious friend was. My sis, Anna, never returned home again.
I clocked 25 years today and it has been 10 years since my mom spoke to me. I'd continue to live with this pain in my heart, hoping that someday, she'll forgive me and I, myself.
There was this perfect uncle of mine that everyone loved in the family. He couldn't hurt a fly as everyone would say. Anytime there was a problem at home, it'll definitely be his wife, a lot of us would jump into conclusion. Well, I guess I wasn't part of the "US."
Well, don't get me wrong. I didn't despise him, I just felt he was just too perfect for how he was described. I mean, every human should have a flaw, right? Right?
Well, as luck would have it, or what most people would term fate. I had a one week long conference. I told my mom, my mom called his brother and her brother (my uncle) called me.
At first, the arrangement with my mom was to stay in his house. He had more than two spare rooms, so that should be more than enough.
He sounded off when he called me.
He offered to pay for my hotel room in an expensive suite, if only I would keep my mouth shut. I told him that, I'll speak to my mom and get back to him. At that moment, he knew I meant business and he stopped bothering me about staying in a hotel.
A few weeks after, I went travelled to the state where he lived. He came to the airport to pick me up, all smiles. He asked about the conference and I explained everything to him. I think, that was the first time we were having a good one on one talk.
He mentioned that his wife had prepared a lot of sumptuous meal for me and my stomach craved, not me.
We arrived at his house few minutes later and I was welcome by his wife who I felt was really happy to see me, his kids, Samantha and Steve. I freshened up and joined them in the dinning room.
When I tasted the food before me, I knew this woman would become my best friend. I mean, time would tell though. We spent some time after dinner and I went up later to my room to sleep.
Next morning by 6am, I hurried downstairs as I perceived the aroma from the kitchen. I greeted her warmly and she answered. I proceeded to help her, but she refused at first, but I insisted. I wasn't a good cook, I didn't like it being rubbed on my face, so I helped more in the kitchen.
I checked the fridge and freezers and noticed they were all packed with fruits, drinks, proteins and all, but no cooked meal. I asked her if she hasn't cooked to store in the fridge and she answered that she cooked everyday. I got pissed, but didn't show it. That morning, she prepared lunch they would take to school and a different breakfast. I went for my conference which was event opening day that day, so I returned home earlier.
She was the only one around, so I had a lot of time to talk more with her. I met her washing a lot of clothes. I asked why she was washing with hands and she said she didn't mind, it kept her busy. I knew at that moment, my uncle wasn't as perfect as they claimed.
This man had a lot of money, the house they lived in, he built it, but the woman wasn't allowed to work, just a stay home mom. One time, I asked her why she decided to be a stay home mom and she said it was her husband's idea.

Abi it's Airtel bad network that's causing Manchester United to be loosing like this?
Abi it's not this Airtel and their bad network 🤔🤔
As a Man U fan, there's no heartbreak that should touch you.
Because, your club feeds you more on a platter bumper to bumper.
The light at the end of the tunnel 🤔🤔.
What if, you're the light. But, you're still waiting to get to the end before shining, showing off who you are?
How would you get to the end of the tunnel without light, only in darkness?
What if, you don't have to wait to the end of the tunnel, to see the light.
Perhaps, you are the light that would guide you out of the tunnel.
🤔🤔🤔

Best graduating student gets ₦100k, while BBN winners get millions
What a misplaced priority
Nigeria celebrates entertainment more than academic excellence and continues to promote the wrong values
Meet Dr. Faith Osebhahiemen Edokpa, UNIBEN’s Overall Best Graduating Medical Student! 🎓
A graduate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Dr. Edokpa distinguished herself academically, earning distinctions in six disciplines:
1. Physiology
2. Pathology
3. Pharmacology
4. Medicine
5. Surgery
6. Public Health and Community Medicine.
She earned three prestigious honours:
🏆 Overall Best Graduating Student in the School of Medicine.
🏆 Best Graduating Student in Surgery.
🏆 Best Graduating Student in Public Health and Community Medicine.
Big congratulations to her!
Now, here's the catch. After six years of toiling and thriving to be the best, she was awarded only 100k!
That's really disheartening! Someone who would save lots of lives in her own discipline.
Meanwhile, BB Naija winner went home with 100 million naira after three months of doing nothing.
You can see what our priority in this country is.
I don't blame medical personnels leaving the country for greener pastures. We don't rate them well enough, it's such a pity.
I hope she excels and soar higher.
Congratulations again Dr. Faith

Imagine your monthly salary is 100k.
Your tax on wages could be up to 25%
Plus other taxes attached by the way.
Calculate how much will be left.
Meanwhile, prices of things keep going higher, but your salary is stagnant.
You won't be able to afford one square meal. Just half chopped.
It's yet to be implemented, because they're scared of losing next year.
If you think you don't deserve good things, allow those who believe to do the right thing.
PO for 2027!

I just realized something.
They keep saying, He's working.
(You know what I mean right?)
But, they never specify if he's working for good or bad, because obviously, he's working for bad and they know it.
They're ashamed of it, yet they'd rather rot than accept it 😂.
Why did it take me this long to realize their intentions. Now I understand.

The first time I went to Benin from Imo state was 2017.
I spent N500 from Imo to Anambra state.
From there, it took another N800 to get to Benin from Onitsha.
Total spent was N1300.
This happened not up to 10 years ago. Today, to go on this same journey, you should have at least N20k and we're just getting started.
Your government is working bah?
Foolishness in the highest order!
