Bees are your friends.
A man fleeing bees in Brazil jumped into a lake, where he was eaten by piranhas.

The current, flawed system is better than anything that the incoming, very flawed roster of DC elected officials will concoct.
At her victory celebration, @Janeese4DC allowed an elected official charged with bribery to address the audience.
CM @trayonwhite speaks at @Janeese4DC watch party. He says JLG is “anointed and appointed.” He also says the process should be respected and the DC Dems should be the ones to name the next member of the council.
There can only be two Dem At-Large CMs regardless of if they arrive to the Council via appointment or special election. In fact, the Henderson switch assures two At-Large Dems. In a special, a Dem could lose to an indy, Green or GOPer, and there would only be one At-Large Dem.

I was told that the next administration was going to be staffed with qualified technocrats after years of giving top jobs to unqualified loyalists, but it appears that the next administration is setting up an apparatus to “train” unqualified loyalists to work in the government??
Pretty good scoop from @jackiepeiser: Major philanthropic foundation is shopping a $2k fund that would fund @Janeese4DC transition, train appointees, and bankroll the nonprofits whose leaders it imagines might get top jobs. dc.citycast.fm/dc-politics/w…
When is the hearing on cost cuts and savings?
It’s a big day in the D.C. Council, where lawmakers will hold a hearing on a bunch of possible tax hike ideas. The context is important: The city is facing up to a $800 million deficit next year, economy is down, and a mayor-to-be made big promises: washingtonsun.com/metro/dc-c…
For years, many people --myself included-- have called BS on these so-called violence interruption programs.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For years D.C. has held out hope that violence interruption programs would meaningfully decrease shootings and killings. A recent study finds they may have done the opposite. Now the fate of the entire initiative is up in the air, reports @jennygathright: washingtonsun.com/metro/dc-v…

Does punching your building manager in the head warrant timely eviction in DC?
The @councilofdc, @MayorBowser, and @DCAttorneyGen say "Yes."
The Public Defender Service says "No." Superior Court will soon decide.

As we talk about difficult choices in the District budget, we should start with tackling a level of fraud in the Medicaid program that’s on par with the entire DPW budget!
DC's Medicaid program has a community support mental health program that, according to the Deputy Mayor who oversees it, "is rife with fraudulent claiming" but nobody on the Council or Congress seems to care.

In defense of me, I'm more mordant than caustic. Nonetheless, tune in to the Dream City podcast. @tomsherwood talks about my @PostOpinions piece, and @cuneytdil wonders if I'll get my "wish."

When @washingtonpost asked me to write about the @trayonwhite mess, my 1st thought was that it shouldn't be necessary for me to be the person saying this. We elected representatives to acknowledge the obvious and do what's right, even if it's uncomfortable.
Alas, 🦗🦗🦗.
The @washingtonpost asked me to weigh in on @trayonwhite and @councilofdc.
I added a bit about @Janeese4DC, too.

A mistrial in D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr.’s federal bribery case allows him to keep his seat for now.
The question that remains unanswered is how his D.C. Council colleagues will respond: Will they expel White or choose not to act? wapo.st/4rzwSRy
