Massive post yes, but if you care about this space please take the time to read it… I’m not interested in pointing fingers at founders when projects fail. I don’t know what’s happening in someone else’s life. This year has been fucking difficult for me too. I lost my job in February. I’m still looking for one in one of the worst job markets I can remember, while paying my bills, dealing with real life and continuing to build. And I’m still here. But that doesn’t mean everyone can handle the same amount of pressure. We have a saying in Spanish that I always think about: everyone has a different-sized glass. One drop might fill mine while yours can hold ten litres. You cannot compare someone else’s capacity with yours. Mental health is real. Life happens. Founders are humans, not machines. But none of that prevents us from being transparent. If you’re struggling, say it. If you can’t build right now, say it. If the project isn’t working, say it. If you want to sell it, say it. That’s very different from simply disappearing. And there’s another uncomfortable part of accountability we need to talk about. If you’re asking people to trust you with their money and become part of something you’re building, how can you expect that trust while completely hiding who you are? You don’t necessarily need to put every detail of your life online, but show your face, KYC, or give people some real accountability. If nobody knows who is behind a project, it becomes incredibly easy to disappear when things get difficult. And I say this as a collector too. I’ve burned money supporting projects whose founders vanished. Lately I’ve been rotating out of some of those communities because why should collectors keep carrying something the founder abandoned? And please, stop telling me I should buy something just because it’s a “legacy NFT.” No. If the founders disappeared, I’d rather put my money and attention behind a new artist or founder who is here TODAY trying their fucking hardest. 🧵1/2 👇🏻
