Looks like Chang'e-8, related payloads, and possibly China's wider moon program, are undergoing changes. This follows a merger seeing China's human spaceflight agency, already in charge of crewed lunar efforts, take control of robotic Chang'e missions, formerly overseen by CNSA.
CNSA announces partners for Chang'e-8, launching in 2028/29. -Hong Kong: robot -Pakistan/ISTVS: rover -Turkey: rover -South Africa/Peru: radio instruments -Italy: laser retroreflector -Russia: dust analyzer/particle detector -Thailand: neutron analyzer -Bahrain/Egypt: imager -Iran: monitor for electric potentials cnsa.gov.cn/n6758823/n675883…

China's Tianwen-2 probe is matching orbits with space rock (469219) Kamo'oalewa, in a 0.90 x 1.10 AU x 7. 8 deg solar orbit. The rock is about 20 meters across and has a mass around 7000 tonnes, and is the smallest asteroid so far to have been visited by a spacecraft

SPACEX's PROJECT STARFALL SpaceX is targeting 6.43 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 23 for a Falcon 9 launch of its Starfall Demo Capsule from Cape Canaveral SFS, FL Starfall is not a traditional conical capsule. It features a flat, circular, disc-like form factor designed for autonomous space manufacturing and rapid global cargo delivery. The circular capsule measures 3.1 meters (10.2 feet) in diameter and 0.75 meters (2.5 feet) in height and has a dry mass of approximately 2,100 kilograms (4,630 lbs). Starfall features a two-part split structure comprising a 1,400 kg aluminum top plate and a 700 kg carbon-fiber heat shield. PAYLOAD CAPACITY Its internal payload bay measures 2.5 × 1.5 × 0.5 meters, allowing Syarfall to transport up to 1,000 kilograms (2,205 lbs) of return cargo. GUIDANCE & PROPULSION Starfall lacks a dedicated chemical propulsion system for independent deorbit maneuvers, relying on its launch vehicle or an external kick-stage to enter a reentry trajectory. For orientation and attitude control, the craft utilizes a network of cold-gas thrusters supplied by nitrogen tanks housed within the heat shield. REENTRY & RECOVERY Starfall uses its carbon-fiber thermal protection system to manage atmospheric heating. Deceleration is handled by a sequence consisting of a pilot chute, a drogue parachute, and a single main parachute. The 700 kg heat shield is mechanically jettisoned shortly before splashdown, after which SpaceX recovery vessels retrieve all spacecraft components from the ocean.

Based on the orbital parameters released on Space-Track.org I mocked up a TLE for the CURVEBALL objects. Another possibility for the mission is that the payload completed most of an orbit and was recovered over the Western US, e.g. at the Utah Test and Training Range

After the failed deorbit burn on May 10, three objects were tracked associated with W-4, in a 180 x 800 km orbit. One was small and decayed rapidly. The other two are likely the bus and the capsule. It's not clear to me which one is the capsule. Perigee and apogee shown here
