This case is clear evidence that this is a parenting problem. If parents refuse to protect their children, especially at such young ages, then they should be held accountable. You wouldn't give your toddler cigarettes or alcohol (to use their favorite comparison) - why is this different

Over two years ago the Social Media Law (2024 HB3) was proposed. I objected because it restricted parental rights, anonymous speech, and our privacy. As I followed the bill through the legislative process I took notes and studied the bills. In my notes I wrote: Nikki Haley wanted this, it was not popular with the public. How is this any different? Here is the first post of several after revisiting my notes concerning Privacy, Parental Rights, and Anonymous Free Speech. Social Media “ID Verification” for Florida: citizenslighthouse.substack.…

Jail?
The part where he breaks down after explaining how he’s working a double shift to provide for his family to make an honest living…while this punk makes his money antagonizing the honest people. It just hits hard. That kid should be put in jail.

Data Breach at FLDOE. The Florida Department of Education whom I warned in 2018 about collecting data on students. @EducationFL Was any student data breached?
The Florida Department of Education is aware of a data breach incident involving unauthorized criminal access to Department information. Upon identifying the threat, the Department immediately activated its cybersecurity response protocols and took swift, decisive action to stop the unauthorized activity, contain the incident, and secure its systems.  In addition to providing the required notice of the security breach to the Office of the Attorney General pursuant to section 501.171, F.S., FLDOE is partnering with the Florida Digital Service and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in its response to the event.  The Department remains committed to transparency and will provide additional information as verified details become available.  More information can be found at fldoe.org/databreach

Florida sued OpenAI in June. Texas followed in October. Same law firm. Same lawyers. Whole paragraphs nearly word for word. Both lawsuits make a real case that ChatGPT was marketed to families as safe when it wasn’t. But read past the headlines and the remedies go much further: 🔹 Keep every minor off ChatGPT 🔹 A court-approved evaluator signs off on new AI models 🔹 Parents must be “verified” by the company before they can supervise their own kids’ accounts Keeping kids off a platform means checking everyone’s age, adults included. Neither state explains how. The new Protecting Kids Online breakdown walks through the filings side by side: protectingkidsonline.substac…

They cannot "program" these AI models into humanity or to have wisdom. "Guardrails" are fools gold. Don't be a fool.

There is a lot of information that disappears from the internet: old news articles, federal, state and local links to information...! We need this resource to keep access to historical information and reporting intact.👇👇👇
The Wayback Machine risks becoming collateral damage in the fight against AI, writes Internet Archive founder Brewster Kahle in The Atlantic. Blocking the Internet Archive won’t stop AI companies from scraping the web. But it can undermine a vital resource for journalists, researchers, and anyone seeking information that has disappeared or changed. It is dystopian! The state helped create the problem, then proposed a "solution" that squashes our liberty AND parental rights while rolling out Digital ID. This IS digital ID. Every person will have to age verify to use social media, and it appears this act will also require age verification at the device level. This act is not what it seems at first glance. Even HB3 (the social media law) goes beyond just ID verify which it implicity requires. This law is an expansion of HB3. This is now the THIRD law I have watched proposed under DeSantis that takes parental rights away in the name of "protecting kids" Parents must be educated and take action to protect their own children. Parents cannot keep turning a blind eye to technology while handing their children devices.
That is the most dystopian proposal I've ever heard.

No, parents should NOT demand their parental rights and liberties be squashed by the state with the Safe Screen Act. Florida parents should take control of their kids' devices and tell schools and their EdTech programs to take a hike. BUT parents don't know they can already do that because Florida school districts try to force kids on devices and KEEP them on devices. Parents CAN protect their kids without this law or HB3. I did at home. At school, I hired a lawyer and got it done. I defended my PARENTAL RIGHTS from the STATE and so can every other parent. We don't need unconstitutional laws. We just need to stand up for the God given rights we already have. Florida leaders: You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Florida's AG @JamesUthmeierFL just unveiled the Safe Screens Act: age verification for app stores, strict default limits on teen social media use, and a ban on AI chatbots simulating "companionship" with kids. Big Tech will fight it. Florida parents should demand it.

What person in an emergency wants to be ON camera in a vulnerable state? How does this not discourage people from wanting to call for help when they need it most?
If you're mean to cops, AI will call more cops.

I have years of email after email warning them of EdTech privacy issues. Maybe one day I will publish it all so the world can see what Florida's leaders willingly ignored.

Right, for years I kept thinking...if I could just explain it to them. I tried to explain the EdTech data collection and privacy problems for years starting as early as 2013, then letter after letter, call after call...nothing. Not even curiosity from legislators or state leaders about my warnings. My complaints to the state were "not in their jurisdiction." No one wants to hear a peep about the technology, was like that in 2023 and nothing has changed.

Now that there has been sufficient damage done they want to go full on app lockdown for digital ID for all of us. They ignored an opportunity to educate parents and the public for years, they could have started with the schools. But that wasn't what the system wanted or had designs on for over a decade. They were in denial for all the exciting claims of "the future" will be transformative. How do they like the transformation they ushered in now? Legislators allowed it to get SO out of control that they now want to sell the public unconsitutional liberty destroying legislation.

The unintended consequences will be huge. And it is so obvious, you might wonder if it is intentional.
Florida officials are taking on Big Tech with the proposed ‘Safe Screens Act,’ introducing overnight social media blackouts, device-level age limits, and strict penalties for tech giants @AGJamesUthmeier: "If you invite Florida’s children onto your platform, you have a duty to keep them safe.” flvoicenews.com/florida-ag-j…
