The big thing I found off-putting about Andor was not the drabness or the darker tone but the writers' apparent antipathy for this guy. The show constantly mocks and degrades him for the great crime of assuming that two strangers deserved to live and their killer should be brought to justice. He's not doing it for glory or personal gain - he loses everything because of this obsession. I found this so amoral and repellent I felt no desire to watch season 2 - I wasn't surprised at all when I heard he'd been killed off unceremoniously with no personal arc or resolution to his story. Had the writers taken the character seriously and empathized with him a little, he could have been very compelling. As is the story would not change at all if he didn't exist. Thus every second he's on screen is a waste of your time, like so many other things in the show. RIP Space Javert.
