Getting rather excited for my Costa Rica trip. I've just booked an overnight trip to the Monteverde Cloud Forest with a local birding company part way through the holiday - should be amazing! π¦π¦π¦ββ¬π¦

I've been meaning to pop the top off this chap for ages! Finally got round to it today. β at Easington, England
A couple of gravid Garden Cross Spiders (Araneus diadematus) found recently. Amazing to see the variation in colour! The pale one was really quite striking in person (in spider?). I've never seen one so pale.
Both beautiful ladies! π β at Easington, England

More top work by our brilliant residential volunteers & staff. This time, creating a pond in Schipper's Field. Rarity predictions so far range from Swinhoe's Storm Petrel and Egyptian Plover to Lesser Yellowlegs, Solitary Sandpiper and a thirsty Ovenbird... what do you reckon?

Sweet baby Walter.
It took you a while to grow into those satellite dishes on the side of your head, but you got there in the end!
The house feels very empty without your beautiful presence. We're going to miss you so much.
Sleep tight.

I've just been immersed in a mixed flock of Long-tailed Tits, Great Tits, Blue Tits and Willow Warblers! Two Pied Flycatchers joined briefly, then a couple of Spot Flys to balance things out!
Cracking start to the day - just a shame I have to work now. ππ« β at Easington, England
Think I might put the #NotMoth trap out tonight. See what it brings.....
Got a packet of cheese and onion crisps leftover from Migfest, so that's my lure sorted. β at Easington, England

Wild thunderstorm right now!! Probably hard to hear over the rain, but it's been rumbling almost non-stop for the past 10 minutes! And just constant flashes... β at Easington, England
