Ever wondered about displacement numbers? Let's take the 2022 Pakistan floods: We apply open-source data to a climate-vulnerability impact model to ground truth the model numbers (hint: most are wrong) & find out the role of urbanisation.📝@EarthsFutureEiC tinyurl.com/2022Pakistan
Important remarks and lessons learnt on modeling climate related migration at the @GCCMobility #ClimateWeek #Climatesummit.
The weather was on our side for day 1 of the #FFVTsummerschool on Climate (im)mobility. Looking forward to day 2 here in Nuremberg. ✨
We find that impacts from systemic risks and compound vulnerabilities together disrupt those adaptation strategies that worked in the past to maintain food security. In the context of droughts, migration can turn into displacement with less agency on where and when people move.
How do systemic risk and vulnerability components contribute to food insecurity in Somalia? 🌾 @FranziskaGaupp & Christian Webersik & I do a data-driven deep dive into various impact pathways.

What does vulnerability & preparedness tell us about the impacts of the 2022 India/Pakistan heatwave? @ZachariahMariam led our @IOPenvironment study that connects extreme event attribution results with the need for Heat Action Plans to reduce mortality.

When climate change impacts + conflict + displacement come together, risks and vulnerabilities get amplified. More about how compounding risks develop in #EastAfrica in my book chapter - just published by @Palgrave: link.springer.com/chapter/10….

We shed light on the dynamics of climate change impacts on conflict and social risk factors such as displacement and food insecurity.
Just out on the @WorldBank open repository: Somalia
Climate Risk Review. We developed a reference book of resources and knowledge on how climate change impacts and socioeconomic change will multiply risks across key sectors.
