Kalamazoo finalizes their coaching staff for the 2027 season. @CoachBezel has been named the Hornets pitching coach after most recently serving in the same role at Wayne State. @nickking2441 has also been added to the staff as an Assistant Coach. #d3baseball 🐝⚾️

The Kalamazoo College Baseball Prospect camp Sat. Aug 22 was the best run, most organized, & fast paced camp we have seen!!! No 20-30 kids standing around waiting 10min for something to happen. So impressed by this program! The Kalamazoo baseball coaches set a high bar!!! Recruiting tip Tuesday came from Kalamazoo College Baseball Coach Ott! Anyone taking notice of the dudes that are transferring down to D3 from D1. They’re not doing it because they can’t hack it at the D1 level. They’re doing it because they’re trying to find the joy in playing the game again. Pay attention to what others are doing and you’ll find some answers

With the changes in the collegiate landscape, there is a massive obstacle for HS players looking to get recruited at the highest level. Why would high major d1’s take a chance on a 16-18 year old SA, when they could take an older, matured 22-24 year old?

For programs looking for something similar, @DrivelineBB Intended Zone Tracker helps us measure command. At @kzoobaseball, we use a code thru Google Collab to generate post bullpen and live reports using the CSV data that is generated from IZT. This helps us generate Command+ by using a model built by @BentleY__ThomaS when he was here at K. We’ll take the Trackman data from that outing and generate Stuff+ using a similar model, which will also give us a Pitching+ numerical. Some of the report looks something like this ⬇️
