Coach S Smith

My hometown is hurting this week. My good friend Tyrone Levett called and delivered the news, and honestly, I’ve been speechless and heartbroken ever since. Tank was truly one of one. I think I can speak for the entire Notasulga community when I say he made us all proud the moment he came home and took over our beloved Blue Devils as head football coach. It felt like an answered prayer—one of our own had come back to restore a sense of pride that had been missing for decades. And he didn’t disappoint. I’m certain it was one of the proudest chapters of his life. I don’t know a single person who disliked Tank. But the funniest—and probably worst—part of our relationship was the day he learned my dad’s nickname was “Scooby.” 😂 After that, he never called me by my real name again. There wasn’t a thing I could do about it. God doesn’t make mistakes, and I have to believe He needed Tank more because his work here was done. My prayers are with his family, especially the beautiful children he leaves behind. And to every young man who played for Tank and is still wearing that Blue Devil uniform at NHS: I hope you think about him every single time you suit up. If you do, you’ll never let any of us down. Make Tank proud. 💙🤍 🩶 #RipAnthonyJones

Having worked for this league and one of its member institutions, Alabama State, I can’t tell you how excited I am to see my guy @roywoodjr sharing exclusive content with the SWAC. It’s great to see someone with his platform shine an even brighter light on the SWAC
