Every good high school sports team has caring and committed parents at its core.
The sport gets discussed and dissected at home. It matters.

"There are standards here. There is a way that we play."
When the coach holds players accountable, it’s a rule.
When players hold each other accountable, it’s the standard.

If your HS coach(es) put on organized workouts in the offseason and you are not playing another sport…. I encourage you to take advantage of this quality FREE training/practice.
You don’t have to pay for training for it to be of value. If you take lessons, plan those for a time when you are not at your HS training. Then you get a double bonus. It should not be one or the other. Of course I’m talking about players who love the game and are hungry to get better.
*** Footnote: not everyone is blessed to have quality coaches who give up their time in the off season to help other. But if you do, take advantage of it and thank them.

A few things on Anthony Volpe:
1) He handled a setback the best way possible--took it like a man, put his head down and worked, did not complain or act entitled and came back a better version of what he was prior. Respect.
2) He's one of the few players who truly seems to love being a New York Yankee. Not the perks of being a Yankee, but actually BEING a Yankee. Also understands the pain and frustration and expectations of fans. Respect.
3) Always plays with grit and passion. Respect.
That's a young man I'm willing to ride with as my starting 2B in 2027.

Cam Schlittler bolstered his Cy Young chances with another scoreless start, the 18th time this season he's allowed 1 run or fewer, most in MLB.
He's now tied with 3 others for most such starts by a Yankee in a season.
