SOFTBALL WORLD!!! I want to share a thread of a few pet peeves that *a lot* of college coaches agree are hurting your coaching/kids getting recruited/players. Take these as you will, but it could be the difference between somebody you know (or you) getting recruited (1/4)

How do you know if the school that you’re interested in/recruiting you cares about athletics?? Check other teams on campus! If every sport is winning and has nice facilities that’s a good sign the school is about sports and winning 👍🏻😎

This is how college athletics should be- Your sport is a part of your life, not your entire life. It’s okay to be good or even great at more than one thing 🙂
NCAA college athletics were not meant to be a heavily-subsidized charity for 25-year-old athletes whining to lawyers to fight the rules so they can stay forever and block kids who actually value their free education. Like it or not, this is what it’s actually about:

There has been so much talk about mental health in softball (AS THEY SHOULD) but nobody talks about physical health of softball pitchers… Just because you throw your arm in a circle doesn’t mean it’s not strenuous on the noodle. Arm care= self care 🫶🏻

If you want change, you have to be willing to do something different!!! Same actions= Same results

SPORTSmanship is apart of SPORTS… Where has it gone from BOTH players and coaches?? Let your athletic ability/coaching ability do the talking for you 🤷🏼‍♀️🤫

Athletes if you never listen to any other advice I give please listen to this one: you get a JOB to make money & you have the REST of your life to work. You play your collegiate sport for 1. The education 2. The experience… money will come but you only get your sport for 4 years

We got D1 coaches out here poaching players in our signing class. Thank you for thinking so much of us little schools that we recruit better players than you can. Haha

If you can’t be happy without it, you won’t be happy with it. ㅤ If you think something outside of you is the missing piece, you’re missing the point.

I wish players realized how much their coaches think about them away from the field.. How we lose sleep if they’re struggling mentally, if their family is going through a loss, or if we’re just trying to watch film to figure out how we can help make them better. We want connection just like they do, but sometimes can’t reach everyone all the time. We want to be better for them, but we are also human and deal with our own setbacks and struggles. Mental health is widely talked about when it comes to student athletes, but do athletes realize that coaches, parents, and administrators also go through the similar things. At the end of the day, we’re all just trying to do our best.

Say what you want to about college softball, but you can’t say the WCWS hasn’t been entertaining 🥎🤯

If you haven’t been watching, you’re definitely missing out!!
Everyone watches women's sports 🥎🤩 A record for a #WCWS non-finals game!

Possibly an unpopular opinion: once you take a pitcher out, don’t put her back in! The mentality, the adrenaline, the arm is totally different… Hardly ever do I see it work out in the pitcher’s favor.

As a softball coach at the college level and as a fan watching the regionals/supers going on- here’s my opinion on things lacking in today’s softball world that can make/break teams and players (1/2)

1. BASE RUNNING- such a overlooked skill that matters!! 2. SPIRALING INNINGS- one mistake doesn’t define the game. Multiple mistakes in a row might… 3. RELAYS- knowing where you’re going with the ball and having a plan makes all the difference when the ball comes your way

There’s a great difference between cockiness and confidence. Confidence is built on preparedness while cockiness is built on hopefulness
When Kobe Bryant said his insane confidence came from knowing he had fully prepared, I realized that whenever I feel nervous, it means I haven’t prepared enough.
