What an incredible few weeks of connecting with so many incredible role models and leaders. Thank you, Interim President @DeanMarchick, for making these VIP visits happen. We owe you so much and are incredibly grateful for your support of the entire student-athlete experience. We wrapped up the series this week with another outstanding group: former TEGNA, Inc. Executive VP and CFO Victoria Harker (BOT, KBS ’90); entrepreneur and business executive Alan Bubes; attorney Melanie Nussdorf; CNN Executive Director Polson Kanneth; Washington Spirit CEO Kim Stone; NFP/The Meltzer Group CEO and philanthropist Alan Meltzer (BOT, CAS ’21); former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark and real estate development leader Stuart Bernstein (BOT Emeritus, SPA ’60); The Bernstein Companies Executive VP and CEO Mark Duber (BOT, KSB ’81) and his son, David; Foundation Risk Partners Chairman and CEO Charlie Lydecker (BOT, SPA ’85); and Baltimore Orioles Chief Marketing Officer Mark Fine (SOC ’00).

Never have our summer weeks together been such an exercise for the body 𝒂𝒏𝒅 mind. As we wrap up our second-to-last week of workouts, we’re saying thanks to another group of influential VIPs that included Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation President and CEO Steve Salem (SPA ‘84), the Honorable Gerald Lee (BOT, SOC ‘73, WCL ‘76), Senior VP of Innovation and Strategy at Radian, Steve Gaenzler (KSB ‘92), and retired political science professor Mehdi Heravi (BOT, SIS ‘68).

A powerful morning of learning and reflection at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Our amazing docent took our team through stories of slavery, resistance, resilience, achievement and impact, ending with a look at the important role of sports in Black history and culture. Grateful to share experiences like this together, right here in our city.
