yes, the light comes straight from the plant's own living cells (no batteries / no paint / no black light)
that's because a startup called Light Bio put the genes of glowing wild mushrooms inside it
every plant already makes the stuff those genes need, so the petunia keeps making its own light for as long as it's alive
right now in person it's a soft glow, it looks like moonlight
but they teamed up with Ginkgo Bioworks (OpenAI partner btw) to make plants that glow at least 10x brighter
together they're testing new versions of the glow genes to find the ones that shine the brightest
and before that even lands, they're already rolling out the next generation:

Losing midterms is not the breaking news. It happens all the time. The breaking news is how Republicans lost. They lost decisively in states which were considered deeply red. Texas, North and South Carolina, possibly Alaska and even Kansas. How can you lose Kansas, a state where the senator has been Republican for 94 years, straight?
The MAGA movement is finished, period. The questions for the GOP is now how to move forward with Trump. If he stays in the White House for another 2 years, then a Democrat POTUS is virtually certain. Nobody is coming for JD Vance if this goes on, and Marco Rubio is too much of pro not to throw in his hat. Even Trump was conceding last night.
Speculations will now run wild, but a possible outcome is Trump's resignation, so that JD Vance can pardon him as it has been done with Nixon. This is the "carrot" from the GOP for Trump to go quietly. Yet, it might be an uphill battle for the Republican party, nonetheless, but it has better chances of succeeding than keeping the current course.
Interesting times are ahead.

THORChain is the world's first cross chain decentralized exchange. It's been operating for over 5 years now.
Before, the only scalable way to trade between Bitcoin and Ethereum was going through a centralized exchange.
Atomic swaps were available, however they can't scale. Bridges and wrapped tokens were used, but they introduced counterparty risk. There wasn't a proper DEX to swap Bitcoin in a self custody wallet for Ethereum in a self custody wallet.
Vitalik Buterin highlighted this problem back in March 2020, expressing his frustration that there wasn't an easy way to move between Bitcoin and Ethereum without relying on centralized exchanges.
THORChain was built to solve this problem.
THORChain was designed like Bitcoin and Ethereum, to be permissionless, censorship-resistant, and public. All transactions on THORChain are transparent, there is no obfuscation. When Monero starts trading, XMR swaps will have all the same public data as BTC and ETH swaps.
It remains the closest example of a decentralized BTC-to-ETH exchange described by Vitalik.
We believe THORChain is one of the most decentralized blockchains in crypto.
According to a Raynalytics dashboard, the network has 111 active nodes operated by 56 unique node operators. 20 operators control just over two-thirds of the active nodes.
There is no single developer or entity in control of THORChain.
Core developers can make recommendations and write code to update the protocol, but nodes ultimately decide whether to adopt those changes. Protocol upgrades depend on sufficient support from the validator set, meaning developers cannot unilaterally impose changes on the network.
The decentralization and product market fit of THORChain make it a core piece of DeFi.

Целый год я собирала свидетельства гражданских украинцев , переживших российский плен. На основании показаний украинских гражданских узников , переживших пытки , издевательства, трудовое рабство нам удалось выявить карателей , которые похищали , пытали и расстреливали гражданских украинцев .
1 октября Великобритания включила в санкционный список 8 карателей из нашего расследования.
После показа фильма я обращусь к Британскому парламенту с просьбой признать фсб террористической организации, поскольку фсб организует террор на оккупированной территории Украины.

Фильм «Узники: Каратели» покажут в британском парламенте
В Палате общин Великобритании 3 ноября покажут документальный фильм медиапроекта «Активатика» «Узники: Каратели» (Executioners) о системе террора, которую российские силовики создали на оккупированных территориях Украины. Показ начнётся в 15:00 в зале Committee Room 17 в Вестминстере (прийти на место рекомендуем за полчаса, чтобы без задержки попасть на показ); после него пройдёт дискуссия об ответственности за преступления против украинских гражданских.
Мероприятие проведёт сэр Иэн Дункан Смит. В приглашении говорится, что фильм основан на десятках свидетельств украинцев, переживших российский плен. Авторы рассказывают о похищениях, пытках, принудительном труде и внесудебных казнях.
Картина прослеживает предполагаемую цепочку ответственности от российских военных и сотрудников мест заключения до офицеров ФСБ, которые организовывали и контролировали репрессии. Отдельно в фильме говорится об использовании гражданских пленных для строительства военных укреплений и разминирования без подготовки и защиты.
Ранее «Активатика» сообщала, что премьера «Узников: Карателей» состоится 17 ноября в Европарламенте в Брюсселе. Фильм стал продолжением серии о мирных украинцах, которых российские силовики удерживают на оккупированных территориях.

Герой Рассела Кроу в фильме (а фильм основан на реальной истории из жизни) — менеджер табачной компании, решившийся рассказать об изнанке своей отрасли. Нечто похожее скрывается и за нашей историей с тем лишь отличием, что наш инсайдер не из мира табака, он — из мира дорогих лекарств, например, онкологических.
Около года назад мы получили по защищенной почте... статью. Да, впервые в своей карьере я читал не обращение о помощи от анонимного читателя, не секретный документ, скопированный кем-то и отправленный в редакцию, а готовую публицистическую статью — о гигантских взятках, которые практикуются в российском фармацевтическом бизнесе.
Впрочем, слово «российский» тут не совсем уместно. Отечественная фарма — часть глобального рынка лекарств, особенно, когда речь идет о сложных и самых дорогих препаратах, типа «Китруды» или «Золгенсмы». Статья анонимного автора, который явно владел инсайдерской информацией, и была посвящена тому факту, что колоссальная коррупция в этой сфере известна всем — докторам, компаниям в России, глобальным фармгигантам, даже контролирующие органы в России и США в курсе того пугающего факта, что до пятой части всех денег в системе российских госзакупок лекарств идут на взятки.
«Проект» не публикует колонки. Поэтому присланная нам статья стала основой для большого расследования длиной в 11 месяцев. Мы были в этом путешествии не одни: с нами работали коллеги из США (ICIJ) и Швейцарии (Republik). Многочисленные интервью с источником, предоставленные им документы и факты — это основа публикуемого сегодня текста.
