I have a cynical tendency to want to resist movies that unabashedly wear their hearts on their sleeve, but #LaBolaNegra is simply undeniable. Easy to see why Los Javis won best director at Cannes. As a gay man who tends to procrastinate my own happiness, this hit me like a train.
One interesting note is that this final was literally less than 24 hours after Serena’s point penalty (and therefore loss) in the SF vs Clijsters. Ofc Serena would’ve been fired up for a final with Venus anyway, but she was extra motivated and fired up this day🔥
