As our kids go #BackToSchool, never forget that we ARE the traffic that we’re using as an excuse. If more walked, biked or rode transit to school, it would erase a massive number of car trips each day, and our kids would be safer, healthier and better at school.
Spread the word.

Here we go again.
The NY Times cannot find anything positive to say about the most healthy and climate-friendly transportation innovation of the last decade.
No increased transit service for Beyonce at SoFi (3 shows) but there WAS increased service for Taylor Swift (6 shows). Metro says it's based on the number of attendees, but I'm having a hard time believing that it's based on numbers and not something else. latimes.com/entertainment-ar…

Thanks @StreetsblogCal for acknowledging the work we’ve done to address legitimate concerns about my speed camera bill AB645, and for exposing who is behind the bulk of the remaining opposition. @streetsforall @StreetsblogLA cal.streetsblog.org/2023/08/…

Food for thought. @Pasadena_Mayor @PasadenaGov @PasadenaDOT
Never forget, if you plan cities for cars and traffic, you get cars and traffic. If you plan cities for people and places, you get people and places.
Plan for the city you want.

I @joelinton keep coming back to this image to describe Metro&LACity botching Regional Connector first/last mile. 10+yrs ago cyclists&others fought to get good plans, then Metro ignored them, maybe thinking nobody would notice that even on rail projects they prioritize drivers.

Lives saved by robotaxis in those countries: 0⃣
What those countries have done: Slowed down roads, avoided oversized cars, provided good transit, and reliably punished reckless driving.
We ran this full-page ad in @nytimes and several local papers today.
Human drivers aren't good enough. America can do better, and it is time we fully embrace AVs.
Either the animals are tired of us screwing up their home or the Sea Otter is a reincarnated surfer who's establishing its turf. Maybe both.

Wearing a bike helmet isn't a bad idea but ponder why the countries with the lowest usage of helmets have the lowest fatality rates, and why the US has the highest helmet use AND the highest fatality rate. Hint: It's because 10 other things save lives more than styofoam headgear.
The Bicycle Safety Stop Bill (AB 73) is a commonsense measure to allow people on bikes to treat stop signs as yields and proceed if it’s safe. Will you commit to supporting this crucial bill? #BicycleSafetyStop

Great to see folks on this #BiketoWorkDay - even if they weren't all riding TO work, which is fine. Riding to work, riding to school, dropping off their kids to pre-school, riding FOR work. It's all good! Go #multimodal today & ride free on Pasadena Transit, Metro & Metrolink.
