Gabriel Clarke’s two interviews with Thomas Tuchel and Jude Bellingham were dreadful. Tuchel was very clear in his praise for England’s strength of character but he wasn’t happy with the performance. Clarke failed to understand Tuchel’s mentality comments. He then gave a misleading follow up to Bellingham which suggested to Bellingham that Tuchel was unhappy with the team. Unnecessarily disruptive and the wrong context of interviewing in two separate interviews. #EngvNor

45 years & counting for me,exactly, at no time in those years was I told it was voluntary to pay tax & NI. At no time was I told I could opt out. At no time was I told I may or may not get my state pension. I was told categorically if I paid in I would get it. Otherwise refund me

It’s not a state benefit,it is a contractual payment that you kept your side of the contract by paying national insurance.

I don't give a tuppenny fuck whether there is, or ever was a "State Pension Pot." I paid tax, including NI, for well over 40 years, and I want my state pension. I am already aggrieved that I have to wait two years more than expected..............

I remember the conversation well when I first started work “As well as tax, you will have to pay a separate National Insurance contribution, which pays for the NHS and also for you State Pension when you retire” which, at that point, was 47 years away. It was a social contract.

As a European, I don’t want my team to win by cheating. Guess things are different in the United States.
As an American I never want to beat a team that is missing their best player. I want all the smoke. Guess things are different overseas.

Gianni Infantino never expected Donald Trump and the USA to take credit for the suspension of Folarin Balogun’s red card. That’s where they messed up, because the USA is always about taking credit! Power is the most important thing to them, and they don’t understand the culture and rules of football. They don’t! Infantino seriously underestimated how power hungry the USA is. He seriously played himself! This isn’t about the red card being suspended for the USA. It’s about them saying, “We can control FIFA,” just like they brag about controlling the world. This is why politics has no place in football.

Most of us football fans have not until now paid much attention to the stuff about Trump. But HIS interference in FIFA's decision making has shown billions of us what the US under Trump is like. They flout international regulations for their own selfish ends and just do not care.

🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: The Belgian federation has released a new statement: "After learning through media reports of FIFA’s decision to lift the automatic suspension of player Balogun, the RBFA sent a letter to FIFA requesting a copy of the decision, an explanation of the process that had been followed, and setting out its position regarding the applicable regulations." "As its only response, FIFA sent a letter to the RBFA stating that it considered this correspondence to constitute an appeal, that a judge had been appointed, and that the RBFA had only a few hours to complete that appeal. No information whatsoever was provided by FIFA." "All of this occurred while FIFA simultaneously refused to respond to the RBFA’s legitimate requests." "Furthermore, during the match coordination meeting, FIFA deliberately removed the section concerning the automatic suspension of players from its presentation. This topic had nonetheless been part of all such meetings before each of the previous four matches. The RBFA questioned FIFA, both orally and in writing, about the reasons for this change, yet once again received no response." "To be clear, as of this moment, the RBFA has still not received any decision or any explanation from FIFA regarding this matter. It therefore has no alternative but to challenge the player's eligibility for the upcoming match." "Regardless of the sporting outcome of this match, the RBFA is deeply saddened by the course of events and will continue to fight in the coming hours, days and months in defence of the fundamental principles of ethics, fair competition, and the interests of football as a whole."

Objectively the funniest thing the ref could do at the US - Belgium game is immediately giving Balogun a red card.

UEFA issues strong condemnation of FIFA over its decision to lift Balogun suspension for USA. UEFA by far the most powerful regional body in world football and can make life very difficult indeed for the FIFA chief. Champions League, Premier League, LA Liga in particular, global cash cows for the sport that even American sponsorship involvement can't get near.

🇳🇴 Norway manager Stale Solbakken with a strong response to Folarin Balogun's red card being suspended: 🗣️ Solbakken: "It is a big mistake by FIFA. It is not a great conclusion. He got a red card and the VAR concluded that it was a red card. That means you are suspended for one game. I think what is really bad about that situation is, if the USA beat Belgium, they will always have that extra thing about it. The Belgians will be furious. What about the next red card? What happens there? Will some committee take it away? It’s a bad, bad, bad, bad decision that will hurt the World Cup and the United States."

Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies. If a U.S. President intervenes with the FIFA President — and a player is suddenly cleared before a World Cup knockout match — the question is unavoidable: Quo vadis, FIFA? Football must never become a playground for political power. #FIFA #WorldCup #GianniInfantino #DonaldTrump
