⚖️ A 1913 MURDER. A CONTROVERSIAL CONVICTION. A RENEWED PUSH FOR EXONERATION.
🕯️ On April 26, 1913, 13-year-old Mary Anne Phagan was murdered at Atlanta's National Pencil Factory. That August, a Fulton County jury convicted factory superintendent and Atlanta B'nai B'rith president Leo Max Frank of her murder.
📜 Frank was lynched in 1915 and posthumously pardoned in 1986. The pardon did not determine his guilt or innocence.
⏳ Now, 113 years later, the controversy continues!
🏛️ Rabbi Steven Lebow and former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes have advocated for Frank's exoneration. In April 2025, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis's office confirmed that its Conviction Integrity Unit was reviewing the case.
🔍 In April 2026, Mary Phagan-Kean raised a question that remains central to the debate:

All politics are identity politics. Texas proved it again.
Texas was not Red; it’s not Blue now, it’s Hispanic.
Hispanics embraced Republicans. Republicans never embraced us back.
As a result:
Starr County — 97% Hispanic, carried by Ted Cruz just two years ago — swung harder than any of Texas's 254 counties. Democratic turnout in the Rio Grande Valley doubled.
And look at who's going to Austin and Washington:
🔹 Gina Hinojosa — Governor of Texas. First Latina. First Democrat in 32 years.
🔹 Bobby Pulido — flipped TX-15 from Monica De La Cruz.
🔹 Johnny Garcia — won TX-35, a district the GOP redrew specifically to take it.
🔹 Katy Padilla Stout — flipped TX-23, the border district from San Antonio to El Paso.
🔹 Henry Cuellar — reelected in Laredo by more than 2 to 1.
🔹 Vicente Gonzalez — reelected in the Valley. Sixth term.
🔹 Veronica Escobar — reelected in El Paso with 71%.
In 2024, Hispanics gave Republicans the biggest opening they've had in a generation. Two years of being treated like a problem instead of a partner — and the door closed.
Nobody owns the Hispanic vote. We just proved it. Again.
This will later be called the genocide of Ukrainians — Zakharova on Zelensky's thugs fighting their own nation
If enough pressure was brought to bear on the IIHF perhaps they could require Canada to admit Russian players into the country to play in the Juniors next month in Alberta. Or they could move the tournament to a non-hostile, cooperative country (like Kazakhstan).

Germany remained a significant threat to Europe after Canada, US, Britain & USSR defeated it. European countries knew that and drafted the Brussels Treaty to "GUARD AGAINST GERMAN AGGRESSION: To take necessary steps in the event of a renewal by GERMANY of a policy of aggression".
