Hand up, I actually wasn't panicked about the Colts WR room heading into the season (stupid take). But those takes were predicated on Alec Pierce playing a full season and continuing to ascend and expand his route tree. That hasn't happened and right now it's a disaster.
The Colts have seen the 2nd most Base defense to 11 personnel in the NFL this year. They're averaging just 2.4 yards per play on those snaps, with only one play gaining more than 10 yards.

The Colts Offensive EPA numbers are hilarious: Offensive EPA/play: 29th EPA/Rush: 4th EPA/Dropback: 31st

(BTW there's a strong correlation between EPA in the passing game and winning football games) Teams going Base to 11 and heavy condensed coverages to sell out vs. the Run which is only compounding the issues. Colts one of the heaviest rates of PA in the league but not helping

I don’t understand why the Colts have a white out and then wear white jerseys??? Take this from a guy who’s been to tons of Penn State White Outs. The idea is to make the away team wear white so it makes it a bit harder for the QB.
White out game at home. ⚪️

Just giving my opinion. Colts have a lot of problems and he has not been the solution this year. Hasn't played as well as I believe he can. No one is saying he's Patrick Mahomes, but I think the Colts failed him with the lack of WR depth. They are too easy to defend.

Colts Film Room is the biggest Jones advocate rn. Can’t wait to see what he does against a shitty cowboys defense

He wants to say “The roster around Daniel is terrible and the backup QB messed up a day 1 play that he’s been running since high school” so bad right now
#Colts HC Shane Steichen, asked if Daniel Jones is held to a softer standard: “It goes back to the preparation and the command he has of the offense. …” “You want to have accountability, but like I said, I feel in this situation that he gives us the best chance to win.”

FWIW you can tell the staff is frustrated that they’re being peppered with QB questions. But that’s not reasonable if your approach is to never coach a player through the media. If Shanes answer on AR is “he messed up the easiest play in our playbook” the questions would stop

IMO if A.J. Brown goes for a 2028 1st round pick, that should be the Colts ask. Some teams equate that to a 2027 2nd round pick, and if the rumors that are that a lot of these QBs are going back to school, the Colts shouldn’t be gunning for a 1st this year anyway.

I think what’s misunderstood about Jonathan Taylor is that he’s actually gotten better as he’s gotten older. I’m not sure what he did in that 2023 offseason, but it took his game to a new level I kinda hate seeing the narrative that he’s about to be washed. He’s in his prime.

Four Verts vs. a Tampa 2 disguise After clearing the underneath defender Warren has to bend his seam route. Balls out a little early and inside and the defender makes a good play. This one is definitely on Daniel Jones (already down 42-7 in the rain)

Daniel Jones Pick 6 Only fair I post Tyler's bad plays too. This INT, in my opinion, is completely on Tyler Warren Not only does he drop it, but he runs what I believe is a very very poor (borderline lazy) jerk route that lets the LB undercut the ball and make the catch harder

Also the RB NEEDS to run fast to the flat here and widen that defender to create a real throwing window. Either the design is poor or the RB just runs the wrong route? Not sure. These things matter, especially when you lack some talent.

In other words… Cowboys are 32 ranked defense. Go use JT and try to beat them while you’re coaching for your jobs and then trade him to us (Giants) after we extend our lead in the division.
Note: I believe this is creating a reaction of standing pat…going with what you got. So, sounds like #Colts should think long and hard on this… #Colts face the #Cowboys next. Does this matchup inspire postgame movement ?

The length of the contract is interesting, though necessary in order to get an ascending player to sign. Tomi is a guy who is so athletic he can be scheme versatile, but definitely something to monitor assuming the Colts are headed for a new scheme in 2027.
The Colts and DT Adetomiwa Adebawore agreed to terms on a two-year, $35 million extension that includes a $13M signing bonus and $22.5M in new money through 2027. Still only 25, Adebawore has a chance to get back to the market again as he enters his prime. The deal was negotiated by @kenny_zuckerman of @prioritysports

IMO if you get Base to 11 as an offense, you need to take that personally It’s shown up for multiple weeks. The defense is saying “we don’t respect your WRs” I don’t understand how Chris Ballard was ok with this.

Why match with nickel when Danny has to take extra hitches for these WRs to get out of their breaks anyway? Let’s just stop Jonathan Taylor

I have a ton of respect for Daniel Jones. He's insanely tough and the ultimate professional. Obviously, most fans don’t care because the results just haven’t been there, but this lost season is way more than just him and he’ll be the first one to tell you that it’s his fault.

I also feel like it is important to note that DJ was playing at an MVP type level last year until the injury. He broke the leg and played on it for four weeks or so and then had the achilles injury. Sometimes we forget that part of this story and just how tough he is.

Some great points made by Stephen in this thread. Often QBs get too much of the blame and too much of the praise. When teams are defending you by going Base to 11 and you have no speed on the field to get them out of it, that’s way more than just a QB problem.
Shane Steichen: "Obviously, the QB takes the brunt of it all...That's what the quarterback signs up for. And it's not all on him, right? It's everything. It's all encompassing." Here's the thing: He's actually right. Let me explain. (more) espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/5036…
