#Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner wrote this letter to Timely Comics’ Stan Lee in 1955. #marvel wasn’t a universe yet.

Took my kids to watch the new Street Fighter movie which was way more fun than I was expecting. The fact that it takes place in the early neon 1990s when I was an early teen spending time at the arcade felt electric including the soundtrack from that time period that choreographed well with both the live action and anime segments. The actors had fun, and the movie delivered what fans of the games want out of a movie adaptation. Two thumbs up.

Jack Kirby’s heirs’ lawyer, Marc Toberoff, also represented Victor Miller and recently won the US rights to the original 1980 Friday the 13th script. Miller and Toberoff are now part owners of Friday 13th LLC which owns the early material such as Camp Crystal Lake, the young Jason who drowned, Pamela Voorhees and supports the Peacock series, Crystal Lake and the baghead Jason. Horror Inc. and Sean Cunningham own the adult hockey mask Jason and all material created in the sequels. The two groups now share the franchise but continue to operate separately and are now creating new material under the name Jason Universe.

I really enjoyed #CrystalLake and this new origin of Jason which basically makes him the Toxic Avenger. The script was smart and the actors and crew did a bang up job recreating the late 1970s atmosphere.

Avengers 66, 1969 showcases Barry Smith's early style, influenced by Jack Kirby, with panels of various superheroes. Written by Roy Thomas, this issue marks the debut of adamantium in the #Marvel Universe, to give Ultron his adamantium skin.

Always fun watching Joe Simon and Jack Kirby roleplay during their 1949/early1950s crime comics photo-covers era. Looks like that's Roz in the middle.

Really interesting article I found from 1969 criticizing DC Comics' Batman's change in narrative away from camp toward social relevance, with an interview by Carmine Infantino who felt the Adam West TV show caused damage to the superhero's brand.

Frank Frazetta’s cover to Jaguar Guard #1 (1995) was reused from his cover to Jongor of Lost Land (1970).

A 1975 newspaper article by Stan Lee, which was also meant to serve as an ad for The Sons of Origins of Marvel Comics, which highlights what many articles in the 1970s explain: That comics are now meant for teenagers and older readers, rather than just kids age 6-12. Referring to Stan as sole creator of the Marvel heroes is obviously frustrating, but the observations of where comics were at the time are still interesting.

Interesting photo of Hal Foster who started Prince Valiant in 1937, depicting decades of the hero’s medieval adventures.
