I yearn for the Canada 🇨🇦 of my youth. We had respect for our flag, our culture &customs. We were inspired by our politicians & business leaders that collectively had a vision for Canada’s future. We had an emerging role in geopolitics as well as an iconic democracy. What happened?
She has no authority
Ursula von der Leyen renewed her call for Canada to become an EU “associate member,” despite member states rejecting the term bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Your thoughts-was he right or did Carney make a mistake ?
Quebec Premier Designate @PaulPlamondon has the biggest stones in Canada.
He's basically told @MarkJCarney to 🖕

🚨L'ALLEMAGNE VEUT QUITTER L'UE !
🇩🇪 Le parti d'extrême droite allemand, Alternative pour l'Allemagne (AfD), gagne rapidement en popularité et ambitionne de quitter l'Union européenne s'il remporte les prochaines élections.
Devrait-on faire la même chose en France ?

Has she gone rogue without approval/ consent, or consensus??
EU leaders have REJECTED Ursula von der Leyen’s half-baked plan to make Canada an ‘associate member’
So naturally, she’s ignoring them and going ahead with it anyway

She must be made to resign now !!
1. Status of CETA (October 2026)
CETA is in force provisionally since September 21, 2017; full ratification by all EU member states is still pending.
Trade barriers have fallen: 99% of tariff lines have been eliminated.
Recent progress: Canada and the EU launched negotiations on a Digital Trade Agreement in March 2026 to complement CETA.
2. Trade between Canada and the EU
Total trade: approximately C$178.6 billion in 2025 in goods and services.
Goods trade: approximately €81.5 billion in 2025, according to EU figures.
Growth: bilateral goods trade has increased by more than 77% since 2016.
Major traded goods: machinery, pharmaceuticals, vehicles, minerals, energy products and aerospace equipment.
Canada’s position: the EU is Canada’s second-largest trading partner for goods and services, after the United States.
Bottom line: CETA continues to facilitate Canada–EU trade, with growing commercial ties. Full ratification remains incomplete, while both sides are working to expand cooperation, including digital trade.
Mark Carney’s proposed “Alliance for the Future” between Canada and the European Union could have significant societal and economic consequences because it aims to reduce Canada’s dependence on the United States while expanding cooperation in trade, defence, energy, technology and research. Prime Minister of Canada
Economic consequences: Greater access to European markets could create jobs, attract investment and expand opportunities for Canadian businesses. However, increased competition and differing European regulations could put pressure on some Canadian industries, including agriculture.
Societal consequences: Closer cooperation could create more opportunities for students, researchers and young workers to study, work and collaborate across the Atlantic, although these benefits would depend on future agreements.
National sovereignty: Diversifying trade and strategic partnerships could give Canada greater independence in international affairs, but closer integration could also create disagreements over regulations, domestic policies and decision-making.
Defence and energy: Cooperation on military production, critical minerals, artificial intelligence and energy could strengthen Canada’s security and industrial capacity, while requiring additional investment and resources.
Political and international risks: The alliance could strain relations with the United States, while disagreements among EU countries could delay negotiations and limit the agreement’s scope.
Overall: The alliance could reshape Canada’s economy and society by creating new opportunities and reducing reliance on a single major trading partner. However, its actual effects will depend on the final agreement, implementation costs and how Canada balances closer European ties with existing economic relationships. As of October 29, 2026, the proposed alliance’s terms remain under discussion.
I fundamentally disagree
Nearly three-quarters of Canadians support PM in seeking closer ties with Europe nationalpost.com/news/canada…
Who agrees with me that Carney has no mandate to take Canada into any-form of EU alliance?
He was elected to get an USA trade deal done !
He wasn’t empowered to make this unilateral decision without HOC debate and vote !
He is leveraging his manufactured majority to pass this !
Alarming !
