CSP's 19.4% overseas growth is 2.5% on the terminals it already held
Two terminals added to @COSCOSHIPPING Ports' reported network since last autumn supplied 87% of its third-quarter overseas increase; the terminals it held before them grew 2.5%, slower than its Chinese portfolio. Operating profit rose 31%, but a tax bill 2.5 times larger, at US$47.5m, left attributable profit flat at US$82.6m.

With Tideworks sold, both leading independent TOS vendors belong to private equity
Cargotec sold Navis in 2021 and Carrix sold Tideworks in October. Both vendors, the largest independents by their own install-base figures, now belong to software investors whose first moves have been bolt-on acquisitions and sales hires. The largest terminal operators are answering by owning part of the software stack themselves. Two ICTSI terminals changed systems this autumn, one on a scheduled 16-hour stop, the other with a 26% fall in weekly throughput reported 11 days after cutover.

The 100% duty on Chinese cranes now moves with the US-China truce, two months at a time
USTR proposes to suspend the Section 301 maritime action, including the 100% duty on Chinese ship-to-shore cranes and chassis, from 10 November 2026 to 9 January 2027, the same two months Treasury added to the Busan truce in September. The 25% four-year-review duty stays in force, the April 2027 grandfather entry date does not move, and Port Houston, which took eight Chinese cranes inside that grandfather window, is choosing a supplier for ten more under a clock that resets every 60 days.

Port Said calls double as Gemini reworks seven Asia–Europe services container-mag.com/article/po…
Container Management (CM), covering the container supply chain since 1984 - from trade, shipping, ports and terminals to equipment, technology and operations - has appointed Rachael White as Editor-in-Chief, effective 15 October 2026.
White has worked in global container logistics for nearly 40 years. Her career in fact began at Container Management after graduating from Cambridge University in 1987.
As Editor-in-Chief, White sets editorial direction across the print magazine, published 11 times a year, the weekly newsletter and CM's online analysis, and owns the analytical standard every piece has to meet. Kate Wilson continues as CM's Managing Editor.
The appointment comes as CM completes its shift from trade magazine to intelligence platform. CM's editorial output and WTCP Intelligence now draw on the same base: a structured archive of CM content going back more than two decades and the WTCP Intelligence operational dataset, sourced directly from the industry and updated daily. The result is analysis of what the numbers mean for readers' decisions rather than a record of what was announced.
"I spent years listening to industry executives explain the depth, weight and detail of what they needed to know, and much of it never made it into print anywhere," White said. "CM is where it does. Fewer pages that summarise press releases, more that tell a technically literate executive what a change in volumes, equipment or regulation means for next year's decisions“, White said.

Listed by Brussels or priced by London, a UK first call would lose its ETS saving:
The European Commission has proposed listing non-EU ports within 150 nautical miles of the EU on their infrastructure alone, a test Felixstowe, London Gateway and Southampton would meet. Ports in countries that apply equivalent carbon pricing would be exempt, and the UK plans to price international voyages from 2028 (container-mag.com/article/li…)
Port Said calls double as Gemini reworks seven Asia–Europe services: Gemini's Asia–Europe rotations from mid-November double Port Said's weekly calls to six and add an Asia loop serving only Algeciras and Tanger Med in Europe. Unlisted Salalah and Jeddah calls also shorten the legs the EU ETS prices on two services (container-mag.com/article/po…).
