Wisdom just welcomed another chick at approximately seventy-four years of age.
The most elderly documented wild bird on Earth has been breeding offspring since the era of President Eisenhower. Biologists originally placed an identification band on the Laysan albatross back in 1956, a time when she had already reached maturity and was occupying a breeding nest. Almost seventy years after that moment, she arrived back at Midway Atoll in the Pacific Ocean alongside a different mate and produced another egg during the final months of 2024.
Her historic partner, Akeakamai, had gone missing for numerous consecutive seasons. Although these seabirds typically establish permanent, lifelong unions, they possess the ability to choose a replacement companion if their original mate vanishes.
Conservation officers successfully captured footage of Wisdom softly leaning her head against her current mate shortly before he took his place on top of their shared egg.

25 CENTS, TWO GRANDMAS & ONE VERY UNLUCKY ROOSTER: MEMPHIS THRIFT STORE BRAWL ENDS IN ARRESTS
MEMPHIS, TN — What started as a quiet Monday morning at a Memphis thrift store ended with two grandmothers arrested, a broken ceramic rooster, and one Christmas wreath display that will probably never recover.
Police say 81-year-old Shirley Mae Pritchard and 78-year-old Dorothy “Dot” McCall both reached for the same 25-cent ceramic rooster at Blessings & Bargains Thrift Store.
They stared at each other.
Shirley reportedly said, “I had my hand on it first.”
Dot allegedly replied, “Honey, your hand has been shaking for 20 minutes. You don't even know where it was.”
That was apparently the starting bell.
Witnesses say the women began wrestling over the rooster until its left wing snapped off and flew across the store.
One shopper reportedly yelled:
“NOT THE ROOSTER!”
The women then crashed into a bin of artificial Christmas wreaths and continued fighting from inside the greenery.
One witness described it as “two angry possums fighting over the last biscuit at a church breakfast.”
Police eventually separated the women, who were still holding opposite ends of the broken rooster.
Officer Marcus Bell reportedly said:
“I've dealt with fights over parking spaces, lottery tickets and chicken wings. I've never had to separate two senior citizens over a ceramic rooster worth a quarter.”
Both women were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and mutual combat.
The thrift store says the rooster will be repaired with hot glue and put back on the shelf.
Its new price?
$1.50.
Management reportedly said:
“After everything that rooster has been through, we're charging emotional-support pricing.”
Family members say the women plan to avoid each other.
Unfortunately, they attend the same church.
Both are reportedly scheduled for Sunday school this weekend.
The pastor has been warned.

The choir has been notified.
And the rooster?
Stable. Slightly crooked. Still apparently worth fighting over...
