They'll usher in a world of abundance, but you wont be able to actually own anything unless you own the means of production.
Those at the top will own everything and still be unhappy.
Possible solution to the datacenter argument.
If your local leaders want to ignore datacenter gripes, bring those gripes to the leaders homes.
Bring loudspeakers and blare datacenter noises directly at their homes, they will move/resign within a month.
Kentucky residents played a loud recording of the noise pollution from data centers to show its disruptive impact.
Within seconds, county officials grew irritated and told them to “act like adults” and turn it off.
The corrupt politicians who vote for and push these data centers onto our communities couldn’t handle the piercing sound for a few seconds, yet expect residents to live with it every day.
Welcome to the USA, where politicians prioritize the bottom line of the corporations and billionaires that fund their campaigns over the needs of our people and communities.
Wait, so these MFs increase our powerbills, buy up all the compute, and not only are they gonna go bankrupt, but then they expect us to be paying for a bailout?
Sounds like a charity that spends excessively without any actual donors.
🚨 US LAWMAKERS ARE NOW PREPARING FOR THE AI BUBBLE TO BURST.
House Democrats have introduced a resolution opposing government bailouts for AI companies if the industry crashes.
Instead of rescuing them with taxpayer money, lawmakers want failed AI companies to go through normal bankruptcy.
And the timing is extremely concerning.
Some of the world's biggest tech companies are investing billions into AI startups that spend heavily on their products.
• Nvidia invests in CoreWeave, which buys Nvidia chips.
• Microsoft invests in OpenAI, which spends billions on Microsoft's cloud services.
• Amazon invests in Anthropic, which uses Amazon's cloud infrastructure.
Billions are moving between companies that are becoming increasingly dependent on each other's spending.
And lawmakers are raising concerns about the growing use of borrowed money by Big Tech and Wall Street to finance the AI boom.
The resolution is not law, but it shows that some lawmakers are already worried about what happens if the industry collapses.
If AI startups run out of funding, they could be forced to slash spending or declare bankruptcy, leaving their investors and suppliers facing massive losses.
And without government bailouts, a major failure could spread across chipmakers, cloud providers, banks and the broader stock market.
The biggest risk is that one major AI bankruptcy could trigger losses across an entire industry worth trillions.
AI be like: We got this new super-intelligence and longevity serum, currently it's 97% fatal to humans but not monkeys and we swear it cannot be transmitted from monkeys to humans.
Also AI: Wait, my bad! The serum is easily transmitted from monkeys to humans.
this whole story sounds made up lol
i just learned that AI is creating a lab monkey crisis.
in 2019, a lab monkey cost $3,000. now they're $20,000+ each, and it’s about to get way worse.
that's because AI can now design endless new drugs to cure diseases in humans.
but a lot of these new drugs need to be tested on monkeys first before they can go into a human, because they're one of our closest living relatives.
so the more drugs AI designs, the more monkeys we need to test them.
but we were *already* running out of monkeys before AI showed up.
it started in 2020 when China (who supplied 60% of America's lab monkeys) banned exports.
so labs switched to Cambodia, until the US found out in 2022 that monkeys there were illegally being caught in the wild and sold as farm-raised
so American labs stopped buying
the obvious fix would be to just breed more monkeys
but a female monkey only starts having babies around age 4, and after that she only has one baby a year.
so supply simply can’t keep up.
even China, which kept all its monkeys for itself, is now sold out at about $26,000 a monkey (roughly 12x the 2019 price)
this is why this startup (Safer Human Medicine) wants to build a 30,000-monkey farm in the US
the plan is to start with 500-1,000 macaques (the main monkey used in drug testing) from farms in Asia, then breed them up to 30,000 over about 20 years.
so eventually, American labs can finally stop relying on the (increasingly expensive!) 20,000 monkeys imported every year.
Is the surveillance state here to stop vigilante justice?
America is being taken over by a virus that was welcomed into the body.
They keep giving us medicine that lowers the fever, but maybe we NEED THE HEAT to burn this infection.
Fire in our words isn't enough.
When I was a kid I used to be in awe when someone told me they worked at a company twenty or thirty years and that they're now retiring because they did their job and they earned their retirement.
I'm sitting here now twenty years on the job and i'm not any closer to retiring...
These LED lights are so bright they might even be too bright, they even light up the air itself making visibility greatly reduced all around.
Who exactly is to blame for this enhanced brightness and reduced visibility?
nitter.cf/JadenJTW/status/211401… Heck yea, took them long enough.
When I got home from shopping at the store and started putting away groceries my kid said:
"What are you trying to do, solve world hunger?"
I have to admit, that was a good one.
Crazy how the internet has gotten:
Don't trust what you see.
Verify what you can.
Everything's becoming fake.
Success is the only proof of your efforts.
All the sleepless nights, all the overthinking, all the sacrifice mean nothing if the end result is failure.
You be building a monitoring app with AI and it be like: I fould a cryptominer on your PC, and It wasn't me this time.
If someone wants to copy your game, they can legally take the broken, AI-generated foundation if they find it. However, they cannot copy your working game because your specific fixes and manual code additions are yours alone. If they copy your completed file, they are infringing.
