1/ "Boris did/not go to Perugia in Italy" - why does this matter? A thread.
Background first. On the 17th Sept, officials at Perugia airport said Johnson was there "in the last few days". Later they confirmed he "landed on the 11th at 2pm and left on the 14th at 7:45am".

The Bank of England has raised interest rates to 4%, supposedly to tackle inflation.
There is just one problem with this decision. The Bank knows that much of the inflation we are suffering is being driven by rising oil and energy prices, largely resulting from conflict in the Middle East.
It also knows that raising interest rates cannot reduce those prices.
So why is it doing this?
The answer is that the Bank believes it must suppress demand elsewhere in the economy to compensate for rising energy costs.
In other words, it is deliberately making mortgages more expensive, increasing business borrowing costs, discouraging investment and reducing household spending power.
And all this when people are already struggling with higher energy bills. That is problem number one.
There is, however, another problem. Higher interest rates increase costs for businesses, which can then feed through into higher prices. They can, in that case, add to inflation rather than reduce it.
The Bank is imposing economic pain to address a problem its chosen policy cannot directly solve.
That is not sound economic management. It is the consequence of an economic dogma that refuses to recognise the difference between inflation caused by excessive demand and inflation caused by supply shocks.
When will we learn?
I've heard that next week Andy Burnham is going to reduce the price of a trolley at the supermarket from £1 to 50p
14/ But it also shouldn't be forbidden to talk about it, to try and understand the causes, and to learn about different perspectives from different groups.
Neither should it be controversial to be against an occupation and the killing of innocent children.
17/ The Bell review and subsequent Govt reaction are a prime example of cherry-picking data to fit a narrative. They've taken a tiny sample size, found 1 aspect to be alarming, and then banned all mention of Israel from after half-term.
7/ When asked a follow-up question of "Have you personally experienced or witnessed antisemitism at your school/college?" the number of Jewish kids who said "yes" dropped down to 40%.
*actual* not *think* = 40%
12/ Bell appears to have made some incredibly authoritarian and sweeping recommendations based on 36 responses.
His review aids to weaponise antisemitism rather than reporting it.
And the Govt has foolishly adopted all 27 recommendations, many of which are deeply flawed.
11/ …took the survey, out of 5,114 kids overall who took the survey, out of 72,000 Jewish Kids in the UK, out of 12.6 million kids in school and college right now.
36 kids with an opinion. Out of 12.6 million.
10/ The Govt and the Bell review appear to have structured all of its recommendations based on these 36 affected surveyed Jewish children who *thought* it might be because of their religion, out of 59 Jewish kids who actually answered that question, out of 86 Jewish kids who…
9/ In other words, a few dozen Jewish kids *thought* they were bullied or harassed more because of their religion, but *actually*, they were bullied or harassed the same as other non-Jewish kids for non-religious reasons.
Not such a catchy headline, though.
8/ This is important because it is directly in line with the incidences of non-Jewish kids reporting actual experiences of bullying based on race (46%), gender identity (40%), and sexual orientation (39%).
4/ Next, we find that just 86 children in the survey identified as Jewish.
86.
Anyway, of those 86, 35 said they had experienced or witnessed "discrimination, bullying, or harassment". Not necessarily antisemitism either.
5/ When asked a further question about the nature of that bullying, 59 Jewish children answered, and 36 said they *think* it was because of their "Religion or belief".
*think*
1/ So the Govt and Mainstream Media have lost their shit about "critical" levels of "rampant" antisemitism in schools.
Headlines are suggesting "3 in 5 Jewish kids are facing racism and discrimination in schools".
