My take on the devastating Learjet crash in Florida. High-altitude stall + icing? GG.

Que sea la propia NASA quien despida así a Patrick Stewart lo dice todo. Jean-Luc Picard nunca existió, pero nos inspiró a muchísimas personas; algunas de ellas hoy trabajan para llevar a la humanidad hacia las estrellas.

Shane Gillis does a great Donald Trump impression He went from a possible Saturday Night Live cast member who was rejected to having been invited to host twice The cast never knows what to make of it when he does his monologue. After each appearance, the cast members who could not contain themselves and needed a little of the spotlight, gave interviews 'discussing' his performance Gillis did not care

“Space—the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no one has gone before.” I remember listening to these words literally every single night for years on end when I was just a boy. I wouldn’t miss a night. With every episode, I would say these words in unison with that unmistakable baritone voice of Patrick Stewart. They are as familiar to me as anything possibly could be. “Star Trek: The Next Generation” was my show. Captain Jean-Luc Picard was my captain. The crew of the USS Enterprise-D were my friends. God rest you in peace, Captain. Thank you for being a young boy’s inspiration and role model. You were a remarkable example of masculinity, courage, and leadership. Your voice was a father’s voice to me. Your words were the words of wisdom, counsel, guidance, and correction. You showed a young boy what it meant to be a man. And now that you have boldly gone into that Final Frontier beyond the veil of this world, I bid you farewell and Godspeed — until that day when I’ll join you out there among the stars. “Make it so.” 🫡

All at Huddersfield Town are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong supporter Sir Patrick Stewart. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this sad time. A titan of his craft and a legend and hero to millions worldwide, his legacy will live on. Fiercely proud of his Yorkshire roots, Sir Patrick was a Terrier in every sense, and we’re proud to have counted him as one of our own. Once a Terrier, always a Terrier 💙 #htafc

88 years ago tonight, Martians supposedly landed in Grovers Mill, New Jersey. It was part of Orson Welles' famous 1938 War of the Worlds radio broadcast, but some listeners thought the invasion was real. The town still celebrates the broadcast today. With no internet to check, would you have believed it?

Oct 30, 1938: Orson Welles broadcast The War of the Worlds on the radio and supposedly sent America into a panic. The panic was mostly a myth. Welles was 23 and ran a radio drama series on CBS. For the night before Halloween, his team adapted H.G. Wells's novel about a Martian invasion. Instead of telling it as a story, they made it sound like a regular music program being interrupted by breaking news bulletins. Reporters described a strange object landing on a farm in Grover's Mill, New Jersey. Then came Martian war machines, heat rays, and the destruction of New York. The show announced that it was fiction at the beginning, at the middle break, and at the end. The next morning, newspapers ran huge headlines about mass hysteria, with people fleeing their homes and flooding police stations with calls. Some listeners really did get scared. But most of the country wasn't even listening. The most popular show in that time slot was on another network, and Welles's program had a small audience. Researchers later found the stories of nationwide panic were wildly exaggerated. Part of the reason was business. Newspapers were losing advertising money to radio and were happy to run stories making radio look dangerous and irresponsible. Welles held a press conference looking apologetic. The publicity made him famous. Three years later he made Citizen Kane.
