Bitcoin can back a dollar loan, buy assets on another chain or pay an invoice. Mezo, Stacks, Garden and Breez take different routes. 1. @MezoNetwork : borrow against BTC Users collateralize BTC on Mezo to mint MUSD, retaining BTC price exposure while taking on debt and liquidation risk. Direct deposits from Bitcoin wallets closed on October 13. Current deposits use tBTC from Ethereum, adding bridge dependencies. 2. @Stacks : connect BTC to lending and trading sBTC brings BTC-backed value into Stacks smart contracts. Users can borrow stablecoins against it on Zest or trade and provide liquidity on Bitflow. Returning to BTC requires the sBTC signer system to process withdrawals. 3. @gardenfi: swap across chains Garden exchanges native BTC for supported assets on other networks through atomic swaps. The user and a solver lock assets under linked hash-and-time conditions. Completing one side unlocks the other; timelocks provide refund paths for unfinished swaps. 4. @Breez_Tech: put payments inside apps Breez’s Spark-based SDK lets apps send and receive Bitcoin payments, including Lightning invoices, without users managing channels themselves. That convenience introduces payment infrastructure and operator assumptions beyond Bitcoin’s base layer.
