Brazil's largest crypto exchange, Mercado Bitcoin, suffered a major $46.3 million security breach on November 2, 2026. Attackers drained crypto from wallets across at least 10 different blockchains. The exchange temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while investigating the incident. Mercado Bitcoin says the attack was contained, customer data was not leaked, and users will not suffer losses. The exchange has pledged to cover the financial damage. Blockchain security firms and stablecoin issuers reportedly helped freeze approximately $11 million in stolen assets. The attacker has not been publicly identified, and investigations into how the wallets were compromised are ongoing

North Korea has rejected allegations that it was behind the reported $6.3 billion Binance hack, calling the accusations “fabrication,” according to its state news agency KCNA, cited by Reuters. The denial comes after blockchain investigators linked the attack to North Korean hacking groups, including the TraderTraitor network. However, Pyongyang has dismissed the claims. The dispute adds another layer to the investigation as authorities and blockchain security firms continue tracing the stolen funds. North Korea's denial does not resolve the question of who was responsible for the attack

The Binance hack has raised an important question for Pakistan's growing crypto market: Who will represent and protect local investors when a major global exchange faces a crisis? Hinza Asif, President of Asia Web3 Alliance Japan (AWAJ), says Pakistan needs a unified industry body to represent crypto investors, coordinate complaints and engage with international exchanges. She also highlighted the lack of reliable investor data and a formal system to respond to major incidents. She believes this body could work alongside PVARA, supporting investor awareness, cybersecurity education and industry coordination. With Pakistan ranked third in Chainalysis' 2025 Crypto Adoption Index, stronger representation could become increasingly important for the country's digital asset sector.

More than $4 billion in crypto has reportedly been withdrawn from Binance since it reopened withdrawals on November 1, following the reported $6.3 billion hack. According to CryptoQuant, withdrawals include 19,569 BTC worth around $1.5B, 154,147 ETH worth $360M, $1.96B in USDT and $557M in USDC. The massive withdrawal activity comes as Binance restores access to user funds in phases. Despite the exchange covering around 95% of the stolen assets, billions are now moving out as users regain control of their crypto

Binance withdrawals are open. Before you move funds, watch this. Binance says 95% is replaced, from its own money, not from the hacker. Moving everything to another exchange only changes the bazaar. Exchange vs hot wallet vs cold wallet, plus 7 wallet rules.

Binance has started restoring crypto withdrawals after its reported $6.3 billion security breach. On November 1, the exchange began reopening withdrawals in phases, starting with Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, USDT, USDC, Solana, XRP and several other assets across 15 blockchain networks. Binance says it has replenished approximately 95% of the affected assets, using company resources to cover the losses. Around $3 billion in stolen funds has reportedly been frozen with the help of blockchain partners, while the exchange says user funds remain safe and it will absorb the financial impact. Withdrawals for additional assets and networks will return as security checks are completed. Some users may face delays during the rollout, so check the withdrawal page for your specific coin and network before transferring. The recovery process is still ongoing.

The hacker could sweep even when withdrawals were closed for Binance users. It is established that a hacker can drain you even when you turn them off - So why not opening withdrawals for normal users? any clues?

Binance has confirmed it is in discussions with Malaysia’s Securities Commission (SC) and Bank Negara Malaysia over a possible licensed business in the country. The exchange says it has been engaging with both regulators for the past 10 months, exploring the structure and viability of a compliant model. However, it has not disclosed which specific license it is seeking, and no approval has been announced. The move could give Binance a path back into Malaysia after more than five years of restrictions. In July 2021, the SC ordered Binance to stop operating in the country, saying it was running an unregistered digital asset exchange. Its website and applications were blocked for local users. Although Binance was removed from the regulator’s Investor Alert List in 2024, it was added back on October 8, 2026, for operating without registration. The talks are also taking place amid fresh scrutiny of Binance’s P2P platform. Malaysian lawmaker Lim Guan Eng has asked the SC to investigate whether some P2P advertisements were facilitating ringgit transactions through other currency markets. Binance says it disabled a Papua New Guinea kina marketplace that was unofficially pegged to the ringgit, and described the latest complaint as an isolated listing by a non-Malaysian user. Binance says it remains committed to serving Malaysians in compliance with local rules, but its return will depend on regulatory approval.

Thousands of transactions are now complicating the trail of funds linked to the reported $6.3 billion Binance hack. Blockchain investigators say the attackers are repeatedly moving assets between multiple wallets, including sending funds back to addresses they have already used. The unusual pattern suggests automated laundering activity rather than simple wallet-to-wallet transfers. By constantly recycling funds through previously used addresses, the attackers may be trying to make the money trail harder to follow and recovery efforts more difficult.

Binance has reported a security incident with an estimated impact of $6.3 billion. Initial reports point to a potentially compromised employee laptop that may have enabled unauthorized withdrawals. The exchange says there is no evidence that wallet private keys were leaked. Around $3 billion has reportedly been frozen, including more than $1.56B in USDT frozen by Tether and over $800M in USDC frozen by Circle. Binance has temporarily suspended withdrawals for 48 hours while investigating the incident and tracing funds across multiple blockchains. North Korea-linked hackers known as TraderTraitor have reportedly been identified as suspects by blockchain intelligence firms. Binance says it will cover customer losses using its SAFU fund and company funds, but the figures and attribution remain subject to investigation

Alright , while CZ holds no position , if he says relax so relax nitter.cf/cz_binance/status/2115…
User funds are safe! It does look like a hack on Binance. Appreciate the quick freeze from Tether (~$971m) and Circle (~$823m). I don't manage Binance (.com) anymore, but as a shareholder, I expect all user funds will be fully covered.
