BREAKING: AT LAST! A federal judge just ordered Trump to finally pay E. Jean Carroll her $5 million — after years of him stalling justice. After years of legal maneuvering, delay tactics, and desperate last-ditch appeals, Donald Trump has finally run out of road. Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered Wednesday that writer E. Jean Carroll must PROMPTLY receive the $5 million a Manhattan jury awarded her back in May 2023 — after that jury found Trump liable for sexually assaulting her in a department store in the 1990s AND for defaming her by calling her allegations "a Hoax and a lie." It’s a scenario that would be unthinkable for anyone other than Doanld Trump. A jury of Americans found the President of the United States committed sexual assault. And he has spent years fighting, delaying, and obstructing simply paying the woman he assaulted and then publicly smeared. The Supreme Court finally slammed the door on his appeal on June 29th. Did that stop him? Of course not. Just hours before Judge Kaplan's order, Trump's lawyers filed yet ANOTHER request asking the justices to reconsider — and to bundle this case with a separate one where a jury ordered him to pay Carroll an additional $83.3 million for defaming her in 2019. Georgetown Law professor Stephen Vladeck called it exactly what it is: "a transparent play for time." This is who Donald Trump is. Found liable by a jury of his peers. Ordered by a court to pay. And his response, every single time, is to burn through every possible delay tactic rather than face consequences like anyone else would have to. Carroll's own filing put it plainly: Trump has "consistently sought to obstruct and delay payment" of a jury's verdict. The Supreme Court is now in summer recess and won't reconvene until September, meaning Trump's latest delay tactic could buy him months. Meanwhile, his lawyers have already filed notice that they plan to appeal even THIS order. A jury said he did it. Multiple juries, actually. Nearly $90 million in total judgments against him for assaulting and defaming one woman. And still, he fights. Still, he delays. Still, he denies. E. Jean Carroll deserves her money.
