Upgrade 17 and the Jovian Hard Fork Are Now Live
@Optimism has activated Upgrade 17, paving the way for the Jovian Hard Fork and bringing important improvements to how OP Stack chains manage fees, data usage and node operations.
Here’s what changes in practice:
🔸More predictable data usage
The new DA Footprint Block Limit prevents abnormal spikes in data consumption, reducing spam and keeping blockspace more stable across OP Stack chains.
🔹Cleaner and more stable fee dynamics
A configurable minimum base fee helps shorten priority-fee auctions and reduces congestion-driven volatility.
🔸Better operator fee flexibility
The revised operator fee formula gives rollup teams more room to configure fees correctly and prepares the stack for future gas token support.
🔹Upgraded fault-proof VM
Support for Go 1.24 strengthens the fault-proof system and keeps the stack aligned with upcoming security improvements.
Upgrade 17 sets the stage for smoother operations, more predictable costs and a more resilient foundation for OP Stack chains as the ecosystem scales.
Ethereum’s Fusaka Upgrade Is Now Live
Ethereum has officially activated the Fusaka upgrade, delivering one of its most impactful steps toward scaling the network without compromising security.
Here’s what the upgrade improves:
🔸More data capacity through PeerDAS
Nodes can verify data more efficiently, allowing Ethereum to safely handle more blob data and support higher throughput.
🔹 Higher L1 gas limit
The gas limit has increased to 60M, enabling more transactions per block and supporting more complex workloads.
🔸Infrastructure upgrades for smoother growth
New protocol features and blob-parameter adjustments give Ethereum a more flexible and predictable path to future scaling.
Fusaka strengthens Ethereum’s base layer, making it faster, more efficient, and better equipped for the next wave of onchain activity.
