Later he realized it means your outer life is a mirror of how you see yourself, not a random happening. They said, “Here’s the secret of the universe: as within, so without.” Years later I read that book by the Three Initiates where it said the same thing: as within, so without. Your world is a mirror reflecting who you are — and it really reflects who you see yourself as. And that was it. Everybody stood up and congratulated me. I’m sitting there like, “Where’s the coffee and donuts? Did I miss something? Where’s the explosion in my head? Where’s the bombshell?” My uncle said, “Just think about this today. We’ll meet tomorrow.” So I started thinking: How is the world a reflection of who I am? How is “as within, so without”? What are they talking about? Over the next five years the training was mostly on this one subject. They taught that how you see yourself and how you feel — that vibration goes out into the universe, and that’s what you see. The world is as you see it. Then they gave me a great metaphor. They said, “Remember the old days? Projectors. You’re a journalist from the film industry, you know projectors. There’s film that goes in front of the light. The light beams onto the screen. If there’s no film, it’s just white light — blank screen. But if you put a piece of film in front of the light, the light goes through the film and whatever is on that film gets projected on the screen. If it’s a scene of somebody killing somebody, that’s what you see. If it’s a scene of somebody kissing somebody, that’s what you see.” They told me, “Kevin, that’s how it works. Inside of you is this light. You choose what pictures you put — what film you put in front of the light. Whatever you choose to put there is what gets reflected or broadcast onto the screen that you call your life. If you see yourself as a successful person, that’s what goes in front of the light.
