You can't be against ableism and support capitalism. Money determining the value of a human life and the creation of a surplus class are both inherent to capitalism. And I would even argue that capitalism is a major cause of disability.

STOP calling it "Indonesia's fires." Call it what it is: Palm oil companies torching one of Earth's largest carbon reservoirs to clear land for free. 2M hectares gone. And counting.

I think this is something non-academics don't comprehend about the academic job market. We're more like classical musicians or professional athletes in our job opportunities.
When I worked in software, there were dozens of postings I was qualified for in any decent city at any time of the year. Now that I'm an academic, there are a dozen jobs I'm qualified for in the world, and they hire once a year.

Most non-academics assume that our job prospects are like those of doctors or lawyers. Yet (napkin math) there are likely a similar number of tenure track political theorists in the United States as there are active NFL and NBA players.

This is why this is the most competitive House race in the country. We have worked hard to get here. Now it’s time to vote. @WellmanForMO

One more weekend, y’all! In Missouri, we are working to push back on state overreach, preserving reproductive rights, rejecting cheating maps, electing outstanding common sense candidates all around Western Missouri like Keri Ingle, and returning our rep, Rev. Emanuel Cleaver II!

"Across the country, children are pressured into sex change surgery" is every other TV spot in Kansas City atm, & it's honestly infuriating. First of all; it's a flat lie. Amendment 3 exists solely to negate the already-citizen-approved legalization of abortion rights. Pls vote no on 3.

I’ve been early voting at this location for at least 10 years. This the FIRST time I’ve ever seen a line for midterms…..presidential election, sure….but NOT midterms. This location is in a predominantly Black area. BRING EM OUT @angieforfl!!!!

Brazil welcoming more than 200,000 Haitians who fled Haiti’s crisis and offering them legal residency and healthcare upon arrival is one of the best and most important news stories today that the mainstream won't tell you about.

To my sisters and brothers in the Kansas surrounds, get out there and make history happen! Proud to volunteer with you and stand with you as you show America that we care about our kids, our healthcare, and our schools, not more wars, raids, and chaos.

To the women who expect men to send Ubers on dates, you may want to read this: I just picked up a lady who was going on a date with a guy who sent her an Uber (me) They were supposed to be meeting at a local restaurant, and instead he set the destination to his house I dropped her off at her friend's house instead, but it doesn't change the fact that he still knows where she lives Ladies, please don't give your address out to men you don't know Do you want to end up on the cover of a true crime documentary? Because that's how you end up on the cover of a true crime documentary

Covid constitutes the largest mass disabling event in the United States since the Americans with Disabilities Act became law in 1990. Now, the Trump administration’s anti-worker and anti-disability turn has created a climate of fear and difficulty around Long Covid accommodations. motherjones.com/politics/202…
