Henderson talks democracy, political freedom, Home Rule while avoiding the obvious: this party switch has to do with who gets to appoint RW replacement.
If this is simply about principle, explain the timing. If it has consequences for the appointment process, explain those too.

As long as we’re talking about anecdotal experience… I approached the elevator at the Dupont metro with my 2 year old in a stroller in afterschool hours recently, and the crowd of teens stepped aside, with one boy saying “let Mom go first” so I mean, experience may vary

The ribbon-cutting for this DC rec center was February 28, 2026. It was a $16 million project. How has the gym already been broken and closed for a month?
$16M spent. 6 months open. Now the Anacostia Rec Center gym is closed because the floor buckled. It’s been almost a month with no reopening timeline. 30+ young people are outside daily with little to no programming.
