Smile for #NationalPumpkinDay! A @Moonalice song to celebrate - their new release, Honest Hour > moonalice.ffm.to/honesthour

Today, @Moonalice shares a taste of their softer side with the tender song “Honest Hour.” Written by Reid Genauer of Assembly of Dust, Honest Hour features harmony vocals by Jason Crosby and Roger McNamee, who made this song a core part of their duo sets in the side project, @DDS_Duo. The song has a wise, mystical quality. Its lyrics reflect on the lives we lead and the clarity that can come in our final moments. Crosby’s piano melodies are a particular standout, adding a sense of wonder and beauty. “Honest Hour” follows Moonalice’s recent singles, such as their rendition of the Grateful Dead classic “Bird Song,” the timely “Kamala (Follow Her),” the uplifting “Walk With Me,” the anthemic “MYOB,” and the joyful “Happy Here Now,” which will all appear on Moonalice’s new Cool Cats EP, due out on November 29th. The project highlights the many facets of this family band, from Lester and Dylan Chambers’ soulful crooning to the T-Sisters’ soaring harmonies, Roger McNamee’s tender lyricism, and virtuosic instrumentation from guitarist Barry Sless, bassist Pete Sears, drummer John Molo, and keyboardist Jason Crosby. moonalice.ffm.to/honesthour

GAME FACE. Like in the song "Eleanor Rigby," lives in a jar by the door, to be grabbed as we head into work or to get on that Zoom call. Regardless of how troubled we may feel on any given day, gotta manifest that eternal sunshine of our beautiful minds, especially on social media ... What's civilian game face got to do with the navy and facility dogs like Capt. Demo? Everything. Because with Demo no-one, warrior sailors included, need to find the words to explain why they feel down, no need to explain how being away from your loved ones for 5.5 straight months while under more or less daily attack is affecting you. Dogs, like many other creatures, can feel our pain, and although they may not be able to speak, they are masters at offering unconditional understanding and comfort. Animals, particularly therapy or facility dogs, serve as bridges to healing and understanding in environments often marked by stoicism and resilience. In the military context, where expressing vulnerability can be challenging, the presence of a dog like Capt. Demo provides a safe, judgement-free avenue for emotional expression and relief. These dogs don't require the articulation of feelings; their instinctive empathy and presence alone can be a solace, underscoring the therapeutic power of non-verbal communication and companionship, even if it comes wrapped in four paws and a tail.
