A kid dressed as Mario sees two pieces left in a Halloween candy bowl. He takes one, then empties his own bag to refill it so the next kids aren’t stuck with an empty bowl.
That’s the opposite of the parent who reads the “take one of each” sign and still tells their kid to load up.
Most of us talk about raising good kids. This is what it actually looks like in real time small, unsupervised choices that show whether the values stuck or not.

Two rescuers spotted a freezing woman at 3:30 in the morning, 400 feet below them on a Colorado mountain. Then they sat there for two hours and watched her struggle.
That's probably the reason she's alive.
It started Thursday night with one text to 911. "Please help me." She was 37, hiking the Four Pass Loop near Aspen by herself, and stuck in hip-deep snow just under Frigid Air Pass at around 12,400 feet. She'd told a family member her phone was down to 10%. After that text, nothing. Rescuers had a single GPS coordinate and no idea if she was still on her feet.
A medical helicopter found her around 11 p.m., one headlamp still moving through the snow. It couldn't land.
Most people don't realize how hard that is. At 12,000 feet the air is about 30% thinner than at sea level, so the rotor has less air to grab and the engine has less oxygen to burn. You lose power right when you need it most, and trying to set down on a slope you can't see at night is how helicopter crews get killed. The pilot turned around.
So five volunteers from Crested Butte Search and Rescue started walking. They left the trailhead at 11:30 p.m. with temps dropping into the teens and a Starlink dish in the pack. Radios in the mountains only work when nothing is in the way, and one ridge between you and base can cut you off completely. With Starlink, the coordinator back at base could talk to them the whole night.
At 3:30, two of them reached the top of the pass and saw her below. They were looking down a steep slope with up to four feet of snow on it, in the dark, with real avalanche danger. If that slope let go with two of them on it, she'd have three people needing a rescue instead of one. So they held. For two hours they sat up there watching her and waiting for the other three to catch up, so there'd be enough hands to do it safely. Their report says it wasn't an easy decision. I honestly can't imagine sitting there.
They reached her at 6 a.m. She couldn't walk, and she had serious cold injuries with signs of hypothermia. They zipped her into a bivy to hold in her body heat, but dragging someone who can't walk back up 400 feet of deep snow wasn't going to happen.
So they called the National Guard. A Black Hawk came over from Gypsum with Vail Mountain Rescue hoist specialists on board. It held a hover in that same thin air that turned the first helicopter around, lowered a line, and winched her straight up at 9:15 a.m. By 10:05 she was on another medical helicopter headed for the burn and frostbite center in Aurora.
Then the Black Hawk went back up twice for the volunteers. Two of them were still sitting in avalanche terrain. Everyone was back at the trailhead by 10:24, more than 14 hours after that one text.
She owes her life to a phone that got one message out on 10% battery and to five unpaid volunteers who walked all night to reach a stranger. Two of them had the nerve to sit still when every instinct was telling them to go.
Starlink helped save a woman stranded in Colorado’s freezing mountains.
A 37-year-old hiker was trapped in deep snow, unable to walk and suffering from cold injuries.
With no mobile phone signal, rescuers used Starlink to stay connected to their coordinator throughout the night.
She was rescued by helicopter and flown to hospital the next morning.
A lifeline from space helped rescuers bring her to safety.

In 1941 a twenty-four-year-old woman knocked on the door of the British consulate in Bilbao. With her stood a Belgian soldier and a Scottish pilot she had just guided across the Pyrenees on foot.
She introduced herself as Andrée de Jongh and explained that she had created an underground escape network from occupied Belgium. The British officials did not believe her. They assumed it was a trap. They refused to give her any money.
Andrée turned around and hiked back over the mountains into occupied territory. She had grown up reading the story of Edith Cavell. When the Germans occupied Brussels she began organizing safe houses and then mapped a thousand-mile escape route from Brussels over the Pyrenees into Spain. She called it the Comet Line.
She personally guided men across the mountains thirty-three times. London eventually supported her. She saved 118 Allied airmen. In January 1943 she was captured. She told the Gestapo she had organized everything alone. They sent her to Ravensbrück and Mauthausen. She survived until liberation in 1945.
After the war she trained as a nurse and spent thirty years working in leper colonies in Africa. When asked why she chose such a difficult life she said, “Those who receive a lot must give back.”

I need to make a very PUBLIC announcement on behalf of those of us who are 60-something.
If you see a 67-year-old who seems a little boring now, understand something…
WE ALREADY GOT IT IN.
Like…GOT. IT. IN. 😂
We’re not sitting home on Friday night because we never knew how to have fun.
We’re sitting home because WE’VE HAD ENOUGH FUN FOR THREE LIFETIMES.
We went to parties in farmhouses, machine sheds, gravel pits and cornfields. Nobody sent a location because THERE WERE NO CELL PHONES.
Somebody just said, “There’s a party out at Kim’s.”
Kim’s in waupaca?
Nobody knew.
But somehow 75 people found it.
We cruised Main Street for hours with absolutely nowhere to go. Gas was cheap, the music was loud, and somehow 11 people fit into a car made for five.
We drank Boone’s Farm, Old Milwaukee and mysterious concoctions somebody handed us in a plastic cup.
Nobody asked what was in it.
You drank it and trusted the process.
We closed down the bar and instead of doing the responsible thing and GOING HOME…
somebody would yell:
“RED ROOSTER!”
Or…
“LET’S GO TO THE BOONDOCKS!”
And suddenly at 2:30 in the morning, the whole crew was sitting around a table eating eggs, hash browns and greasy breakfast food like we’d just finished a hard day’s work.
Then somebody would say:
“Well…might as well stay up now.”
😂😂
There was no Uber.
No GPS.
No Life360.
No Find My Friends.
There was just somebody saying:
“Follow me. I know a shortcut.”
And for reasons nobody can explain…
WE FOLLOWED HIM.
We made entire weekend plans without sending ONE text message.
“Meet me there around 8.”
That was the plan.
And somehow everybody showed up.
We did stupid things.
We did REALLY stupid things.
And the greatest gift our generation ever received was:
THERE WERE NO CAMERA PHONES.
There are events from approximately 1975 through 1985 that exist only in the memories of the people who were there.
AND THAT’S EXACTLY WHERE THEY NEED TO STAY.
So yes…
Now we’re 60 something.
We like our recliners.
We like comfortable shoes.
We like restaurants at 5:00.
We like being home by 8:00.
And if somebody calls at 9:30 and asks:
“What are you doing?”
The answer is:
“Why the hell are you calling me this late?”
😂
We’re not boring.
WE’RE RETIRED FROM ACTIVE DUTY.
We’ve already closed the bars, stayed out until sunrise, made questionable decisions and somehow lived to tell about it.
So when younger people see us peacefully sitting at home and think:
“Man, you guys are boring.”
Sweetheart…
YOU’RE NOT LOOKING AT BORING OLD PEOPLE.
YOU’RE LOOKING AT RETIRED LEGENDS.
And thank God there isn’t much photographic evidence. 😂😂

Lifelong Democrat says he’s horrified with what he’s seeing in the current Democrat Party “I’m not exaggerating, I study history, it reminds me of 1930s Germany”
“I used to consider myself a lifelong Democrat. I'm a card-carrying hippie, an environmentalist. I've lived with trees and redwood trees to do forest protection. I care about the world. I care about minority rights. I just want to say publicly though, that the course that the Democratic Party is taking right now — commercials coming out of Michigan and and just the movement in general — I would like to publicly say, like, I renounce my standing with the Democratic Party.”
“I'm so disappointed and disgusted with the dangerous turn the Democratic Party's taking. It reminds me, and I'm not exaggerating, I study history, it reminds me of 1930s Germany.
I don't get it — I feel like the party's been infiltrated by, I'd say demonic — the Free Palestine movement, in my opinion, is a Trojan horse. It's not about freeing Palestine. It's not about freedoms — it's about Islamic expansionism”
“It’s been a curse everywhere that flag shows up. Look at Paris today. It's a curse. Look at those college campuses and the college minds. It's a curse wherever it goes — I just want to publicly renounce my affiliation — I just want to say publicly I'm not a Democrat”
Everyone in America needs to wake up immediately like this man

It’s radical Islam Jihad and an open border to bring down America vs voting Red to Save America from becoming Islamic

I owe you an apology.
I have been way too conservative in my election predictions.
Some fresh data came in yesterday and now it looks like we will see:
- Republicans win 55 seats in the Senate
- Republics keeping the House with a 10 seat majority.
- Winning nearly all governorships.
I was almost 100% accurate in 2024 but I wasn’t 100% because I was too conservative. That changes today.
Bookmark it.
We will see history being made on Tuesday. Republicans will vote in record numbers and we will destroy the democrats party once and for all.
Will you forgive me?

At my age, I’ve lived through a hell of a lot of American history. The Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, his brother Bobby, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I watched what happened at Kent State, the taking of our hostages in Iran, the murders of my marine brother in Beirut and I remember the horror of 9/11.
I’ve watched this country go through riots, assassinations, wars, and some of the darkest days in our history.
And after witnessing all of that, I still raised my right hand, swore an oath, put on the uniform of a United States Marine, and served my country.
I didn’t serve this nation to watch its freedoms and Constitution be destroyed by religious extremism or communism.
I’ve seen too damn much, and I love this country too damn much to keep my mouth shut now.
And there’s a lot of us out here just like me
We wont let our country go down in flames like Europe.

TRUMP SAVES SOUTH AMERICA
Every waking hour now, Trump is holding another rally in another state to save the midterms from Democrat crazies hellbent on destroying the USA. So he decides to save South America as well. Just in time. 48 hours ago all was lost. Now there is hope.
OK, Brazil’s fascist ruler Lula stole the election again, like in 2022, in broad daylight like Biden’s minions in 2020. Every world leader knew it, and knew the 80 year-old communist thug would go on a vindictive rampage to ruin the lives of the millions who voted against him. Yet one after the other, they cowardly rushed to publicly congratulate him on the theft he called victory.
EU Commissioner Ursula Von Der Leyen purred "Democracy and multilateralism have won in Brazil.” India’s Modi, France’s Macron, Italy’s Meloni, Germany’s Merz all chimed in. Of course, all the Dem leftards like AOC, Bernie, Ro Khanna et al did as well.
We’ve all been hearing about how Trump by abolishing the centi-billion dollar Dem slush fund, USAID, financing lefty-commie governments, enabled right-wing parties to turn almost all of South America red. And surprise, every single one groveled at Lula’s feet: Bolivia’s Rodrigo Paz, Chile’s Juan Kast, Colombia’s Abelardo de la Espriella, Ecuador’s Daniel Noboa, Panama’s Jose Mulino, Paraguay’s Santiago Pena, Peru’s Keiko Fujimori, plus Venezuela's unelected Maduro VP Delcy Rodriguez.
Notice who’s missing? Yep, the one South American leader with cojones, Argentina’s Javier Milei. When Lula’s henchman on the Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, ordered Flavio’s passport seized on Monday (10/26, the day after Sunday’s election), Milei got a message to Flavio that he’d get him out. By Tuesday he got the OK from Marco Rubio who got it from Trump. By 11pm last night, using his Italian passport, Flavio with his wife and two daughters crossed the Tancredo Neves International Bridge from Brazil into Argentina where Milei’s people were waiting for him.
The bridge is across the Iguazu River adjacent to the famous Iguazu Falls, one of the world’s great natural wonders. The photo you see is just a small portion of the Falls (that’s my son Jackson at age 10 back in 2002).
The Bolsonaros were quickly taken to the nearby Puerto Iguazu Airport to board a private Gulfstream G4 operated by Baires Fly, an Argentinian charter company. Wheels up a little after midnight, an early morning fuel stop at Guayaquil, Ecuador, and by 9:30am EDT this morning, landing at Opa-locka Executive Airport near Miami, safe and sound in America.
You have no idea what this rescue has meant to tens of millions of Brazilians. To have their hopes of freedom at last from Lula’s tyranny dashed by the brazen theft of the presidency at the very last moment, then spit upon by all the world’s leaders by not saying a whisper about the theft, just dove-cooing over Lula, left them with an existential bitterness and dejection.
Then within hours, they see the President of the United States tell reporters on Monday that Lula’s was “just another rigged election.” The next day they hear that Milei got Flavio and his family out of Brazil. Then today they learn that they are safe in the US thanks to President Trump, Marco Rubio, and Javier Milei. These three are now heroes to those tens of millions of Brazilians. They now have hope again.
Further, this reverberates throughout the entire continent. All those groveling South America leaders now realize they had a failure of nerve in endorsing Lula. Knowing that Trump and Rubio have their six, you’ll see an increasing confidence in their standing up to Lula, and not standing for any of his bullying.
This saga is only in its first stages. There’s no way of knowing how it will end. But for the moment, Donald Trump has saved Brazil and all South America. And very large numbers of people in both know it. (Photo ©Jack Wheeler)

From another friend:
JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible. Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?"
DeGaulle did not respond. You could have heard a pin drop.
When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of 'empire building' by George Bush. He answered by saying, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those who did not return."
You could have heard a pin drop.
There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bomb them?" A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships. How many does France have?"
You could have heard a pin drop.
A U.S. Navy admiral was attending a naval conference that included admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian, and French navies at a cocktail reception. He found himself standing with a large group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks when a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?" Without hesitating, the American admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies, and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German."
You could have heard a pin drop.
AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...
Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. "Then you should know enough to have your passport ready." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France!" The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to."
You could have heard a pin drop.
I am proud to be an American, and proud of this God given heritage!

TWO BOYS KNOCKED AND ASKED INSTEAD OF TOUCHING HIS CAR!!
Is this how you raise them, or would you have sent them home?
Doorbell cam in the UK. Two boys walk up nervously and knock to ask the owner about the black Supra in his driveway. Instead of shooing them off, he takes them over, pops the hood and fires it up so they can hear it. According to the narration, they reminded him of how his own love of cars started.
Kids hanging around your car usually means trouble. These two did it the right way: walked up, knocked, asked. And the owner met that respect with a memory those boys will have for the rest of their lives. That's two good decisions back to back, and it's rarer than it should be.
If my boys ever see a car like that, I want them asking first just like these two did, and I hope they meet a guy like Alan.

My two oldest sisters are Democrats. For years, neither spoke to me. Recently, one of them and I started talking again—and today, I was at her house, enjoying spending time together.
She told me our oldest sister had visited a few weeks earlier and immediately started bashing Trump. After living in California for a while, our oldest sister became a hardened liberal. Her hatred of Trump is the reason that we haven’t spoken since 2016.
But what my other sister told her absolutely floored me:
“There hasn’t been a single president in my lifetime whose decisions I’ve agreed with completely. I might not like Trump, but he is still our president, and he has a family. I pray for him and his family and for their safety every single night.”
My jaw dropped. I honestly couldn’t remember ever hearing a Democrat in my own life say that.
One sister wants him “eliminated.” The other prays for his safety—even though she didn’t vote for him.
That difference means something to me.
We still disagree politically. But hearing my sister say those words gave me hope—for our relationship, and for people’s ability to disagree without losing their humanity.
You don’t have to like President Trump to pray that he comes home safely to his family.
I do. Every day. 🙏🇺🇸
