If you did not receive a Voter Information Card in the mail, don’t worry! If you’re on the voters’ list, you can download your card to show at your voting place. This makes the process faster, but you don’t need a Voter Information Card to vote. You will need one piece of ID showing your name and Toronto address. Download your Voter Information Card and find the list of acceptable ID at toronto.ca/MyVote #TOVotes26 #TorontoVotes2026

Maintain the secrecy of the vote. Voters cannot take photos or videos of their ballot or show their marked ballot to any person revealing how they voted. This is in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. #TOVotes26 #TorontoVotes2026

A truck loaded with thousands of copies of Roget's Thesaurus spilled its load leaving Toronto. Witnesses were stunned, startled, aghast, stupefied, confused, shocked, rattled, paralyzed, dazed, bewildered, surprised, dumbfounded, flabbergasted, confounded, astonished, and numbed.

🧵 I want to show you something Toronto has quietly built on Ookwemin Minising, because I think it says something about how we think of public space. This is the Waterfront Neighbourhood Space. And the entire premise is remarkably simple: Public space should have people in it.

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”. The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms. Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

I was given my name by the Iroquois Nation many hundreds of years ago. By 1660 my name was printed on maps by the Europeans as they accepted the Native name which means Beautiful waters. In 1867 the Canadian government decided to use my name for their providence.

Toronto’s largest park in a generation is getting even bigger—adding 10 new acres of waterfront parkland on Ookwemin Minising. From Canoe Cove and the expanded Water’s Edge Promenade to new public art and gathering spaces, this is a major milestone in reconnecting the city to its waterfront. More to explore, more to come, opening July 25th, 2026.

I am a signatory to this letter. Open, fully informed and unbiased public hearings are required, supported by due diligence and meaningful analysis. The public cannot be expected to provide informed feedback when neither the proposal nor its impacts have been properly presented. Forgive us for being suspicious, but all we have so far is a process the Province deliberately rushed into place to cut Torontonians out, and a federal consultation process built around a survey that reflects neither the complexity of the issue nor the information needed to properly evaluate it.
