Prime Minister @andyburnham and Scottish Secretary @D_G_Alexander were in Glasgow today for a National Economic Council meeting.
@scotgov accepted the PM's offer to give regions a real say in regional economic empowerment & reindustrialisation, to drive growth in every postcode.
Was left stranded at Harthill by @TheAA_UK for 3.5 hours this evening. I ended up sorting my own local recovery. Not very happy- could have done that in the first place.

Your politics can have many influences - philosophical; historical etc. But I know I am not the only politician of my generation who owes something to the idealism and egalitarianism of Star Trek the Next Generation.
As such, Sir Patrick has influenced many in a myriad of ways.

Wait a minute, on gas prices...
By moving the cost of the standing charge on to the unit rate - has Andy Burnham actually just put up energy bills for the majority of Scots?
We are colder country & have to put the heating on more, the more gas we use, the higher price we pay!

In 2024 Dave Doogan MP called for standing charges to be rolled into the unit price saying it would reduce usage lower bills cut carbon emissions and infrastructure costs. The government is now moving gas standing charge costs to the unit rate.

SNp Westminster leader Dave Doogan said in a debate in July 2024 that standing charges should be scrapped.
But now that it is actually getting done, he is criticising the move by the UK Government.

When @mmgeissler asked John Swinney yesterday about Jack Middleton blaming the SNP government for slow consenting of renewables projects, Swinney found it impossible to believe that Middleton would have said such a thing. Well he did, and here it is.
What a nuisance that people aren’t ready for the plan so it can’t be published.

Frequent reference this morning to “currency, pensions, mortgages” at SNP conference. Some bemoan the lack of answers. Others say answers exist, but are not accessible enough. But nobody talks about the real issue: that the answers are all somewhere between unpalatable and toxic.
