Today in Ilorin, Kwara State, the leadership of @WSoyinkaCentre, represented by @DapsyOly, Founder and @MotunrayoAlaka, Executive Director/CEO, formally presented the Human Rights Defender Honorary Award to the former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami (Retd). An honour first conferred at our 20th anniversary and 20th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting #WSAIR ceremony, where it was received on his behalf by Professor Ropo Sekoni, Chair of the #WSCIJ Board.
Recognised for his "uncompromising courage," Justice Salami joins a distinguished lineage of legal icons, including the late Justice Kayode Eso, who have stood as pillars of integrity in Nigeria. As we reflect on our 20th anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to Section 22 of the Constitution: holding power accountable through the convergence of judicial independence and media grit.
