YXE Top Lawyer says “…we do monitor it and we have specified that type of construction in areas where we thought vibration would be important to avoid.” Which YXE property owners get the benefit of low impact and which get risk of high impact construction practices for ADUs? – at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Define “Non Essential Travel” to the countless oilfield workers based in Western Canada that work in the Middle East. Is the Government of Canada going to reimburse them for lost wages? Of course not! I guess that means it’s essential travel.
Reminder to Canadians in the #MiddleEast: Make sure you and your loved ones have up-to-date travel documents, that you are registered and stay informed on updates to the travel advice and advisories for the country you are in: ow.ly/yE705101JWX ⬇️ ⬇️

Fake it till you make it!
Ten million people have watched a comedian accidentally destroy the entire TED talk industry. He filmed the talk once at TEDxNewYork in 2014 and openly admitted he had nothing to say. Speaking coaches charge $5,000 to teach the exact tricks he used in 6 minutes to say nothing at all. His name is Will Stephen. He is a comedian from Late Night with Seth Meyers who was invited to give a real TED talk and used it to prove the format is a costume anyone can wear. Every TED speaker opens with a question, tells a personal story, cites a scientist, and shows a chart. Stephen did all four in six minutes with zero content. His entire formula fits on a napkin. Gesture with both hands. Ask the audience a question anyone can answer. Tell a mildly embarrassing story so they say aww. Point to a stranger on a slide and call them important. Flash a chart of random numbers. Wear glasses with no lenses. The audience will think you are brilliant. That last trick alone has probably cost the public speaking coaching industry a hundred million dollars in sessions clients should have skipped. "If you watched me on YouTube with the sound off, you would think I was a genius." That is Will Stephen on the TED stage, three minutes into the talk he was paid to give. He wasn't lying. Executives pay $15,000 for a keynote coach and still open with a joke the room never laughs at. Founders rehearse their pitch for weeks and still sound like Stephen at minute four, saying "wagga wah, gabba gabba" with authority. The talk is free on YouTube. The method is written across every TED speaker's playbook for ten years. Stephen still writes for Seth Meyers. Almost none of the ten million viewers have stopped nodding at empty slides since. The formula is free. The willingness to actually say something before your next keynote, pitch, or townhall is the entire edge.

When the CEO of the Saskatoon & Region Homebuilders Association tells city council which city is doing things right with building bylaws, she chooses Edmonton. Really? Edmonton. Guess what happened in the news shortly after this statement? Interesting! kings-printer.alberta.ca/Doc…

I look back at our household income ten years ago. I look back at our investment account balance ten years ago. Today, I see that only one has barely changed. This chart is accurate! Another tangible example of the k-shaped economy.
Your mistake is thinking that wages are supposed to keep up with housing. Wages don’t keep up with housing, investments keep up with housing. Wages literally keep up with nothing.

Important Halloween costume guide: If Trudeau would wear it as a Halloween costume, you probably shouldn't.

This is an understatement - fraud in temporary worker programs was known to the government well before 2017. This is from an RCMP report on human trafficking released in 2010, based on activity from 2005-2009:
💥EXPLOSIVE ATIP: Immigration Canada knew Indian agents were running MASSIVE FRAUD in the trucking industry and the student visa program as early as 2017 — and stamped the evidence "DO NOT DISCLOSE." According to records released under the Access to Information Act, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) maintained an internal procedures manual for its New Delhi visa office documenting systemic fraud across the student visa and temporary foreign worker streams. The manual instructs officers to treat fraud as anticipated rather than exceptional The most damning thing about this scandal is not the fraud — it's that the government predicted it, kept it running, and then stamped the file "DO NOT DISCLOSE." Canada didn't lose control of its immigration system—they monetized it.

The “too tall house” was built as the personal residence for a local builder/developer that sat on the Board of Directors for the Saskatoon & Region Homebuilders Association. Bylaw appeals are so common for affluent homeowners wishing to game the system. cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon…

“Then, a complaint from an unknown person about the height in May prompted an inspection that found the three-storey house exceeded the 8.5-metre maximum height for homes…by more than a metre.” Wasn’t me! Good job to someone! @CPBH01 @YXEcc @cityofsaskatoon @ParkerJasmin

When I think about all the things that have been going wrong at the city, I wonder who should take responsibility. I’m not talking about unfortunate events. I’m talking about horrendous screwups - one after the other! Perhaps a new City Manager is appropriate!
Do not let City Council slide through another unwarranted contract extension for City Manager Jeff Jorgensen tomorrow. We have better options! #yxe #yxecc #saskatoon #blockcynthia @MattYoungCTV @evanbrayshow @owenjmunro @CJWWnews @nsbasask @DTNYXE service.saskatoon.ca/site/sa…

My mother told me about receiving a call from someone that sounded like her grandchild. She wasn’t 100% sure so she asked the name of the family cat. The very convincing scammer hung up immediately.

A developer got caught in Halifax running two sets of drawings. Sounds like something that would happen in Saskatoon. Many builders and developers find it much easier to apply for bylaw variances especially when after getting caught. facebook.com/reel/1102837359…
