On the 5th of September 2025 our entire world fell apart. 💔
My darling, beautiful, kind and big-hearted sister.. words will never be enough to describe how much I love you and how deeply I miss you. my bestie, my confidant and my light. I don’t know how to do this life without you.. it hurts so bad.. tears won’t ever stop..never known a pain like this.. I miss your love, your smile, your laughter, your daily advice, your words of encouragement..you teaching me duas and the significance of them..your beautiful face, hugs and kisses.. my darling angel @cestmoiM is now with Our Creator and His angels.. 😭💔🤲🏼
It’s been a tough week trying to come to terms with this reality that my sister is no longer with me and I won’t see her again at least not in this world. I still remember the day she was born.. her beautiful big brown eyes looking up to see who had come to see her.. complete definition of a doll, so soft and gentle.. knew right then we would share a special bond, but had no idea she will be with me for such a short time.
She was the glue of our family, our sunshine, our light and being the youngest had a different relationship with all of us. She was kind hearted and a gentle soul who prayed for everyone whether she knew them or not, loved helping people, loved animals and nature too. She being the youngest in our family taught me so much. Mano, meri jaan, one look at her and everything would seem just fine as all my troubles would fade away.. she has left a void behind that no one can ever fill. We as a family are devastated as our little princess is gone.
She worried about what the Palestinians were going through.. would cry and pray for them.. wouldn’t waste food that our brothers and sisters in Palestine have no food and water yet we don’t value it. Her pure and soft heart would hurt for them..
I will miss my baby sister forever and no time can lessen the pain of her not being here. She will forever be in my heart, mind and soul..
Everyone who knew her loved her..
May Allah SWT grant my darling Mano the highest in Jannah al-Firdous, reward her for her patience and forgive her for any shortcomings. Ameen 🤲🏼
Till we meet again meri jaan… love you and will miss you forever.. 😭
Please remember my sister Maha in your prayers as her new life begins away from this world.
Jazakallah Khair

ANATOMY OF OPPRESSION | No. 1
The tactic: imprison the leader
Remove the person around whom opposition gathers, and the movement is meant to scatter.
South Korea, August 1973. Opposition leader Kim Dae-jung is abducted from a Tokyo hotel by his own country's intelligence agency, bound, blindfolded and taken to sea with weights tied to his body. Intervention from Washington and Tokyo saves his life. Five days later he is home – under house arrest.
What followed was 14 years of the same treatment, in rotation:
– 1976: imprisoned for leading a declaration calling for democracy. Nearly three years behind bars, then house arrest
– 1980: arrested again after a new military takeover, and sentenced to death for sedition
– 1981–82: sentence commuted under international pressure, then pushed into exile in the US
– 1985: returns home, is arrested at the airport, and placed straight back under house arrest
Why it works – for a while:
– The charge is framed as national security, not politics
– A courtroom gives persecution the appearance of law
– Rotating prison, house arrest and exile keeps the leader permanently out of reach of his people
Why it failed:
– Human rights groups and foreign governments never stopped campaigning
– Each new arrest made him a bigger symbol of everything the regime denied
– In 1987, mass protests forced the military-backed government to concede direct presidential elections
He lost that first election when the opposition split its vote. He ran again, and again.
In December 1997, the man once sentenced to death was elected President of South Korea. In 2000, he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
A prison can hold a man. It has never held an idea for long.
Pakistan's envoy in Geneva briefed NGOs this week on "progress in strengthening national human rights laws."
Here is what the briefing appears to have left out.
My uncle @ImranKhanPTI has been in prison since August 2023. In 2024 the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found his detention arbitrary and called for his immediate release. That has not happened.
My mother @DrUzma_KhanPK and her sisters @Aleema_KhanPK and @Noreen_KhanPK were detained - without any charges - ahead of a planned protest in September and have now been held for more than 40 days. Thousands of party workers have been arrested since 2023, and civilians have been tried in military courts.
@UN_HRC – that finding came from your own Working Group. Resolution 60/251 requires Council members to uphold the highest standards in the promotion and protection of human rights. A member state is ignoring your own experts while briefing NGOs on its progress.
What will the Council do about it?
@UNHumanRights
Held an engaging dialogue with Geneva-based NGOs and civil society representatives working on human rights.
Briefed participants on Pakistan’s first year on the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), key initiatives, progress in strengthening national human rights laws, institutions and administrative frameworks, and efforts to implement obligations under relevant international human rights conventions.
The discussion also covered the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and the Kashmiri people’s inalienable right to self-determination.
A substantive Q&A and interactive exchange underscored the importance of constructive dialogue, mutual understanding and sustained engagement with civil society.

Throughout Noreen Niazi Sahiba’s stay at PIC, her family was kept in complete dark. No access to her medical records. No information about her treatment, doctors, tests or her medication.
Her daughters sat day and night outside the ward for three days, desperately pleading for access. Only one daughter, Hajra Niazi was briefly allowed to meet her once while the other daughter was denied the chance to see her mother. Not one family member was allowed to stay by her side as an attendant.
And now, Noreen Sahiba has been taken back to Kot Lakhpat Jail, with her family still knowing nothing about her current medical condition.
Day 40.
On 28 October, my aunt @Noreen_KhanPK was moved from Kot Lakhpat Jail to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. No one told the family.
Today she was moved back to jail. Again, no one told us.
We don’t know why she was taken to a cardiac hospital.
We don’t know what tests were done.
No family consent was sought.
We don’t know how much danger she is in.
What we do know: there were armed police every few feet at PIC.
What are they so afraid of?
My mother @DrUzma_KhanPK and my aunts @Aleema_KhanPK and @Noreen_KhanPK have been held in Kot Lakhpat Jail since 21 September under Section 3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960. No charge. No trial.
Their only “crime” is standing up for their brother, @ImranKhanPTI.
@HRCP87 has condemned the misuse of the MPO against political workers before. We ask you to speak now.
Charge them or release them.

I have just returned from the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. Noreen Niazi's entire family, including her daughters, has been waiting outside the ICU for the last three days, yet not a single family member has been allowed to see her. Even more disturbing is that the family has not been informed about her medical condition. They have not been told what happened to her, what diagnosis has been made, what tests have been conducted, what the reports reveal, what treatment or medication has been prescribed or even what symptoms she is experiencing. The family is left waiting outside the ICU, completely in the dark about their mother's health. Meanwhile, approximately 25–30 policemen are deployed at the hospital. This complete lack of transparency and communication is unacceptable. Her daughters and family deserve to know about their mother's health, diagnosis, medical reports and treatment. They deserve answers

“His health is failing. One of his eyes is going. They won’t let his sons fly from England to visit him. They won’t allow anyone there to visit him. He is rotting away in a Rawalpindi jail. Disgraceful and horrendous that a man who has so honorably represented his nation is being treated by his own country.”

In March 1919, the British passed the Rowlatt Act, allowing Indians to be detained without trial. It was passed over the united opposition of the Council's Indian members. Muhammad Ali Jinnah resigned from the Imperial Legislative Council in protest. In his letter to the Viceroy, he wrote:
"A government that passes or sanctions such a law in times of peace forfeits its claim to be called a civilised government."
107 years later, in the country Jinnah founded, the sisters of @ImranKhanPTI – my mother @DrUzma_KhanPK and my aunts @Aleema_KhanPK and @Noreen_KhanPK – have been held for six weeks under a 1960 preventive-detention law. No trial. No charge.
What would the Quaid call such a government?
Charge them or release them.

It’s a shame that they feel they have to resign rather than staying and fighting against what’s wrong in the country.. it only takes one to expose those behind this corrupt system.. resigning is very cowardly imo!!

If the worst does happen, they may try to claim it was from natural causes or old age. My father, when he went to prison 3 years ago, was about the fittest and healthiest 70 year old man you could possibly find. He had no underlying health issues (despite being shot in the leg when the regime tried and failed to have him killed in an assassination attempt).
His health is deteriorating because of the inhumane treatment he has been subjected to in prison, which the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture has repeatedly stated amounts to torture.
Again, make no mistake - the regime will be responsible if he is killed in prison.
Your father is 74. The average life expectancy of a Pakistani man is around 65.
No one needs to do anything. Time and nature are already taking their course and every passing day brings him closer to his eventual death.
PS: No UN official has ever visited your father in jail to assess his conditions. Remember that before invoking international concern selectively.
Selective hue and cry by the Aurat March brigade in favor of Imaan Mazari.. what about Khan sb’s sisters.. what about Dr Yasmin Rashid, what about all the other female political prisoners? Or is only Imaan an aurat from the elite they wish to support? Hypocrites..
Saima retweeted
If he’s safe as you claim, why is the regime ignoring the Supreme Court’s order to have him assessed in a private hospital (Shifa International), rather than by stooges at a government facility? Why haven’t they allowed anyone to see him since August? Even murderers are granted these most basic of rights in prison. They’re clearly hiding something, as they could easily dispel people’s concerns if their claims that we are lying are true.
Remember, when PTI was in power, Nawaz Sharif, who, unlike my father, is genuinely corrupt - as proven by the Panama Papers - was allowed to travel to London for medical reasons while serving his prison sentence and remained there, living in luxury for 4 years. Yet these fascists fear my father so much that they won’t even allow him a visit from his own doctors or an assessment at a private hospital IN Pakistan, as ordered by the highest court in the country. Why are you so desperate to cheerlead for a fascist regime?
1- Your father is safe
2- Thank God Almighty we are not hearing (incoherent rants) from him
3- It was not Asim Munir, but Bajwa under whom your father was ousted
4- The ppl of Pakistan need respite from your father’s crazy verbal diarrhea. We are trying to heal as a nation so take one for the team, please.

Day 39.
My mother @DrUzma_KhanPK, has been held in Kot Lakhpat Jail since 21 September.
She has not been charged with any crime. She is detained under 3-MPO, a colonial era public-order law that lets a deputy commissioner jail a citizen for 30 days on a police recommendation, and then extend it.
Her first order expired on 20 October. The Punjab government has renewed it for another 30 days.
Her sisters @Aleema_KhanPK and @Noreen_KhanPK are held under the same law. Noreen was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology without her family being told she was unwell or that she was being moved. No one has been allowed to see her.
